• Why should I submit to Expression? Submitting to Expression gives you the opportunity to showcase and publish your masterpiece(s) in an award winning magazine, which is a great tool to have for building your resume, which in turn helps launch your career. Or you can always just submit for the fun of it so you can have something to brag about!
• What is Expression? As representatives of Casper College and the University of Wyoming at Casper, the staff of Expression Literary and Art Magazine strives to promote student recognition of literature, art, and music, while preserving literary and artistic integrity. Dedicated to excellence in the arts, this magazine offers students the opportunity to have their work published and provides a fair and unbiased evaluation of student submissions.
• How do I submit? Fill out a submission packet according to the directions pertaining to the genre in which you wish to submit. Ask a staff member if you have any further questions.
• Where can I find submission packets? You can get submission packets from any member of the Expression staff, or at the Expression office, which is located on the lower level of the Strausner Hall in Room 107. There are also application posted with the posters throughout campus.
• What can I submit? Expression Magazine accepts submissions from various creative categories, such as poetry, prose, music, and art. Other creative expression, such as stage performances, makeup, costume, stage design, architectural designs are also welcome.
• How much can I submit? Students may submit a total of ten entries per category, but no more than four pieces per individual may be published in any single category.
• When and where do I turn in my submission(s)? The submission deadline is Friday February 24, 2016. All submissions must be brought to the Expression office in Room 107 of the Strausner Hall, office hours below.
• How are submissions accepted in the magazine? Submissions to Expression are judged by a group of three individuals. We secure a faculty member, a community member, and a student in the discipline for judging. On one lone Saturday, the judging happens. The "yes" pieces are published in the magazine, the "no" pieces are respectfully declined, the "maybe" pieces are left to the Expression staff's discretion.
• If I submit artwork, will it be safe? How do I ensure it isn't mishandled? Only art editors are allowed to handle artwork. They will use extreme caution with each piece. For any further questions, please call the Expression office at the phone number above.
