In 1972, the Winnipeg Jets became the city’s first professional hockey team as part of the World Hockey Association (WHA). After the WHA had ceased operations, the Jets were absorbed into the NHL. The small-market Jets struggled financially and in 1996 the team was relocated to Arizona and were renamed the Arizona Coyotes.

For 15 years Winnipeg was without a team. However, in 2011, the Atlanta Thrashers relocated to Winnipeg and were renamed the Winnipeg Jets to the delight of the hockey-loving city. Winnipeg Jets Ticket Holders purchased 13,000 season tickets in 17 minutes the day they went on sale.

The Jets failed to make the playoffs in their first 3 seasons in Winnipeg. However, in 2015, they just squeaked into post-season play and faced the top-ranked Anaheim Ducks in the opening round. Winnipeg Jets Ticket Holders proudly revived the “white-out” for this first playoff series for the Jets in almost 20 years. The white-out is a team tradition that dates back to 1987 when fans of the original Jets franchise wore white clothing to home playoff games to intimidate the visiting team.

Over the next 2 seasons, the Jets failed to qualify for the playoffs, but in 2018, they became the highest scoring team in the Western Conference and made it into the post-season. The Jets defeated the Minnesota Wild and Nashville Predators in the opening and second round of the playoffs, respectively. However, they were defeated by the Vegas Golden Knights in the Western Conference Final.

The Winnipeg Jets’ play home arena is the MTS Centre. With a seating capacity of about 15,000, it’s the smallest arena in the NHL, but Winnipeg Jets Ticket Holders keep it packed. Having lost their team once, Jets fans are determined to prove that they want NHL hockey in their city.

Based in Washington, D.C., the Washington Capitals were founded in 1974 as an expansion franchise. The team, also known as “the Caps” by fans, experienced a disastrous first season, posting a record of 8–67–5, which still stands as the worst record in NHL history.

The Washington Capitals continued to struggle for several years until all-star Mike Gartner led the team to 5 consecutive second-place divisional finishes between 1983 and 1988. Washington won its first division title in 1989 and appeared in the conference finals in 1990, but the Capitals failed to advance any further in the post-season through the mid-1990s.

In 1998, the Washington Capitals won their first conference title and earned their first spot in the Stanley Cup Finals, but lost to the Red Wings. The team posted winning records in 4 of the 5 seasons following their Stanley Cup appearance, but never advanced past the first round of the playoffs during that period.

In 2004, the Capitals drafted superstar Alex Ovechkin. He led the team to 4 straight division titles between 2008 and 2011 and another division championship in 2013. The team was gaining momentum.

Washington Capitals Ticket Holders finally saw the Caps win their first conference title in 20 years, earning a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals where they defeated the Vegas Golden Knights (a first-year franchise) in 5 games. The victory was not only the first championship in the Capitals’ 44-year history, but also Washington, D.C.’s first major professional sports title in more than 25 years.

Attending a Washington Capitals game is a time-honored tradition in D.C. Thousands Washington Capitals Ticket Holders flock to the Capital One Arena to root for the Caps. Fans who want to see the Washington Capitals defend their recent Stanley Cup win can get tickets at Golden Tickets.

The first major sports team to be based in Las Vegas, the Vegas Golden Knights began play in the 2017–2018 season. The team plays its home games at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada. The Vegas Golden Knights played their first game on October 6 defeating the Dallas Stars. Golden Knights Ticket Holders got to see their first home game on October 10, 2017 as their new team beat regional rivals the Arizona Coyotes.

Vegas Golden Knights Ticket Holders watched the team smash NHL records all season long. The Vegas Golden Knights set the expansion team record for wins in a debut season with 34 wins after only 50 games, and then set the record for most points by an expansion team in its inaugural season with 84. On March 31, the Knights clinched the Pacific Division title, becoming the first true expansion team in the 4 major sports to win its division in its inaugural season.

On April 17, the franchise earned their first playoff series win against the Kings, and became the first team in NHL history to sweep a playoff series in their debut season. The Golden Knights eventually advanced to the Western Conference Finals, where they defeated the Winnipeg Jets and earned a spot in the Stanley Cup Finals, only the third team in NHL history to accomplish that feat in its inaugural season.

Unfortunately, the team’s winning ways would end there as the Vegas Golden Knights lost the championship series to the Washington Capitals in five games.

With such an exciting first season behind them, Golden Knights fans have high expectations for the upcoming NHL season. Las Vegas Golden Knights fans can make sure they don’t miss any of the action by visiting Golden Tickets for the best seats in T-Mobile Stadium.

The Vancouver Canucks joined the NHL in 1970 as an expansion team. They struggled at first but won their division in 1975 thanks in large part to legend Andre Boudrias. He would quickly become the team’s top offensive player in the early to mid-1970s, leading the team in scoring in 4 of their first 5 seasons.

The Canucks surprised fans and critics alike by making their way into the Stanley Cup Finals in 1982 despite a less than stellar season. However, Vancouver Canucks Ticket Holders saw their team lose to the New York Islanders in a quick 4 games.

The Canucks struggled in the 1980s, but made it to post-season play again in 1994, due to players such as goaltender Kirk MacLean, Pavel “the Russian Rocket” Bure, Trevor Linden, and Cliff Ronning. However, this time, the team was eliminated from the playoffs by another New York team, the Rangers.

The Canucks did poorly in the late 1990s but improved in the 2000s. Markus Naslund, Todd Bertuzzi, Matthias Ohlund, and Ed Jovanovski were important players who helped lead the team to the division title showdown against the Calgary Flames in 2004. Ultimately, they lost in overtime of game 7 to the Flames in the first round. The Canucks just missed the playoffs in 2006 and would continue to struggle through the 2010s as top talent retired or was traded, and coaching overhauls and changes in ownership created some instability.

The Canucks play their home games at Rogers Arena. The stadium opened in 1995 as General Motors Place, and seats up to 18,900 Vancouver Canucks Ticket Holders. Fans of the Vancouver Canucks can get tickets to Rogers Arena from Golden Tickets.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were founded in 1917, known simply as Toronto, or sometimes the Toronto Arenas, at the time. In 1927, the club was purchased by Conn Smythe and became the Toronto Maple Leafs. Smyth is best known as the principal owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs from 1927 to 1961 and as the builder of Maple Leaf Gardens, the team’s original home arena. The NHL honored Smyth’s contributions to the sport by naming the award given to the most valuable player during the playoffs after him.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were one of the famed “Original Six” NHL franchises that existed from 1942 until the 1967 expansion. The other teams in the Original Six included the Montreal Canadiens, Boston Bruins, Chicago Black Hawks, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have won 13 Stanley Cup championships, second only to the Montreal Canadiens who have won the Cup 24 times. The Maple Leafs’ history includes 2 recognized dynasties, one from 1947 to 1951; and the other from 1962 to 1967. Winning their last championship in 1967, Maple Leafs Ticket Holders are currently watching their team endure the longest Stanley Cup drought in NHL history. Despite the team’s failure to bring home a championship in decades, Toronto Maple Leafs fans remain loyal.

The team started at Maple Leaf Gardens, but moved to Scotiabank Arena in 1999. The arena holds almost 19,000 seats and Toronto Maple Leafs Ticket Holders make sure it’s filled to capacity almost every time the team plays. In fact, Maple Leafs tickets have a reputation for being hard to obtain, but Golden Tickets always has great deals on Maple Leafs Tickets.

Since the team was formed in 1992, the Tampa Bay Lightning have become one of the most popular sports attractions in the Tampa, Florida area. The Lightning are so popular that the Tampa Bay is often called “Hockey Bay” during the season.

Tampa Bay Lightning Ticket Holders watch their home team light up the ice at Amalie Arena, which holds more than 19,000 fans. Tickets to the stadium are available at Golden Tickets.

The Lightning won their first and only Stanley Cup in 2004, beating the Calgary Flames. The Tampa Bay Lightning became the first franchise in NHL history not able to defend their Stanley Cup championship the following season. That’s because of the lockout that occurred during the entire 2004–2005 season. Once the 2005–2006 season finally rolled around, a year off definitely made all the difference with this championship team. They barely squeaked into the playoffs, where they lost against the Ottawa Senators.

The Lightning reached the Stanley Cup finals again in 2015 but lost to the Chicago Blackhawks in 6 games. While Tampa Bay Lightning Ticket Holders wait to see if lightning can strike twice in the form of a second Stanley Cup win, they can always take pride in the fact that their team made history during their first season on the ice. Canadian ice hockey player Manon Rheaume became the NHL’s first female goalie when she played one period in an exhibition match between the Lightning and the St. Louis Blues. She stopped 7 out of 9 shots at goal and her impressive debut eventually got her signed to the Lightning’s premiere minor league club based in Atlanta. No other female ice hockey athlete has played on any NHL team since.

Based in St. Louis Missouri, the Blues were founded in 1967 as one of the 6 franchises created during the NHL’s expansion that same year. The Blues are named after the W. C. Handy song “Saint Louis Blues.”

St. Louis Blues Ticket Holders currently attend the team’s home games at the 19,150-seat Enterprise Center, the second home arena of the Blues. The team first played at St. Louis Arena from 1967 to 1994.

The Blues appeared in the Stanley Cup Finals in 1968, 1969, and 1970, but failed to clinch the championship all three times, making them the oldest active NHL team never to have won the Stanley Cup. Despite having never won a Stanley Cup championship, the St. Louis Blues have been a fairly successful franchise. In fact, beginning in 1980, the Blues would go on to qualify for the playoffs in 25 consecutive seasons.

One of the most notable St. Louis Blues players includes scoring sensation Brett Hull, nicknamed “Golden Brett.” Hull scored 86 goals in the 1990–1991 season—setting the record for most goals scored by a right-winger in a single season. Despite posting the second-best regular season record in the entire league in 1990–1991, the Blues were upset in the second round of the playoffs to the Minnesota North Stars, a defeat that was symbolic of St. Louis’ on-going playoff struggles.

St. Louis Blues Ticket Holders are a loyal fanbase. In fact, the St. Louis Blues sold out every home game in 2010 and 2011, and ticket sales continue to be strong to this day as fans know that a Stanley Cup win can’t be far away. All St. Louis Blues fans can get tickets to watch this talented team from Golden Tickets.

Founded in 1991, The San Jose Sharks were the first NHL franchise based in the San Francisco Bay Area since the California Golden Seals relocated to Cleveland in 1976. From 1991 until 1993, the San Jose Sharks played at Cow Palace arena in Daly City. During its first few seasons, the team was made up mostly of minor league players and rookies. The Sharks had a terrible record those first few years, yet Sharks fans rallied behind their team.

During the 1992–93 season, the Sharks sold the most merchandise of any NHL team, bringing in $150 million. Due to the team’s commercial success, the team was able to relocate to the newly upgraded SAP Center, which is closer to the bulk of their fans. The SAP Center, nicknamed the “Shark Tank,” is where San Jose Sharks Ticket Holders still watch the team today. Fans who want to enter the “Shark Tank” can get tickets from Golden Tickets.

During the franchise’s history, the Sharks have won 1 conference championship, 1 Presidents’ Trophy, and 6 division titles. However, they’ve never managed to bring home the Stanley Cup. They came close in 2016 when they advanced to the Stanley Cup finals, but they ultimately lost to the Penguins.

Despite the team’s underwhelming record and relatively short history, San Jose Sharks Ticket Holders are diehard fans. This could be because of the camaraderie that exists between the team and their local community. San Jose locals frequently see Sharks players at stores, restaurants, and public parks. In just 25 years, the team not only represents the city, but it has become a core part of the city’s identity.

The Pittsburgh Penguins were founded in 1967 as one of the NHL’s first expansion teams. From 1967 to 2010, Pittsburgh Penguins Ticket Holders flocked to the Civic Arena, nicknamed “the Igloo,” to root for their team. In 2011, the team moved to the PPG Paints Arena, where fans can still watch them today. Tickets for all Pittsburgh Penguin games are available at Golden Tickets.

After finding moderate success in the early years, the Penguins drafted Mario Lemieux in 1984, who was an instant offensive force on the ice and would become one of the greatest players in the history of the game. As the club drafted other standout players, the Penguins became a regular presence in the play-offs in the late 1980s. After the addition of superstar right wing Jaromir Jagr, the Pittsburgh Penguins finally became champions, winning the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992.

The Pittsburgh Penguins remained competitive after those early 1990s victories; however a third Stanley Cup win wouldn’t come until 2009. A fourth Stanley Cup win came in 2016 and the team rode the momentum to their fifth Stanley Cup in 2017. With those recent wins, the Pittsburgh Penguins became the first back-to-back champions since the Detroit Red Wings accomplished the same feat 1998.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have a huge rivalry with cross-state franchise, the Philadelphia Flyers. One of the best rivalries in all of sports, Pittsburgh Penguins Ticket Holders and Flyers Fans refer to their match-ups as the “Battle of Pennsylvania.” It’s not uncommon to see match-ups between the two teams get sold out, however, fans of both teams can always turn to Golden Tickets to get access to the on-ice excitement.

Part of the 1967 NHL expansion, the Philadelphia Flyers were the first expansion team in the post–Original Six era to win the Stanley Cup. Their first win was in 1974 and they repeated their success, winning a second consecutive Stanley Cup in 1975.

Philadelphia Flyers Ticket Holders attended the Philadelphia Spectrum on Broad Street for almost 30 years to watch their favorite team take on visitors. It was the location of the stadium and the team’s penchant for fighting that earned them the nickname the Broad Street Bullies. In 1996, the Flyers moved to their new home, the Wells Fargo Center, which is located on Broad Street as well. Flyers fans can get tickets to see their favorite team on ice at Golden Tickets.

The Flyers’ all-time points percentage of 57.6% is the second-best in the NHL, behind only the Montreal Canadiens' 58.8%. Additionally, the Philadelphia Flyers have the most appearances in the conference finals of all 24 expansion teams (16 appearances, 8 wins), and they are second behind the St. Louis Blues for the most playoff appearances out of all expansion teams (39 out of 50 seasons).

Philadephia Flyers Ticket Holders have enjoyed watching the team develop intense rivalries over the years. Historically, their biggest adversaries have been the New York Rangers, with an intense rivalry stretching back to the 1970s. The New Jersey Devils are also a rival with who the Flyers whom they traded the Atlantic Division title every year between 1995 and 2007. Perhaps their most intense rivalry is with their cross-state brethren, the Pittsburg Penguins. Some consider that to be one of the best rivalries in the NHL, if not all of sports.

The Ottawa Senators are a professional ice hockey team based in Ottawa, Ontario. Senators play their home games at the 17,373-seat Canadian Tire Centre, which opened in 1996 as the Palladium. Fans of the Senators can get tickets to the best seats in the stadium from Golden Tickets.

The current-day Ottawa Senators are actually the second NHL franchise to use the Ottawa Senators name. The original Ottawa Senators team was established in 1886. That team made their NHL debut in 1917 and played until 1934, winning 11 Stanley Cups titles in the process.

Though the Ottawa Senators were one of the hottest teams in the NHL during the 1920s, they couldn’t compete with the ever-expanding American markets and eventually moved across the border to become the St. Louis Eagles.

After a 58-year absence, the Ottawa Senators returned to the NHL in 1992. Unfortunately, their first season back in the NHL was not a pretty one for the Senators. Ottawa Senators Ticket Holders watched their team win only 10 games and tie the San Jose Sharks for the worst record in the league.

The team’s poor performance continued for the next three seasons, but they were able to draft top talent including Radek Bonk in 1994, Chris Phillips in 1996, and Marian Hossa in 1997. In addition, 1996 saw the emergence of a talented rookie from Sweden named Daniel Alfredsson, who would win the Calder Memorial Trophy as NHL Rookie of the Year.

The Senators have won four division titles and, in 2003, the Presidents' Trophy. They appeared in the Stanley Cup Finals in 2007, but were defeated by the Anaheim Ducks. Ottawa Senators Ticket Holders have watched their team consistently qualify for post-season play in recent years, but another trip to the Stanley Cup Finals has eluded them.

Founded in 1926 as an expansion team, the New York Rangers are one of the oldest teams in the NHL, and one of the “Original Six” teams that made up the NHL from 1942 until the 1967 expansion. The Rangers were the first NHL franchise in the United States to win the Stanley Cup in 1928, and they would go on to win the Cup 3 more times, in 1933, 1940, and 1994. The team has also won 7 Division titles, most recently in 2015.

New York Rangers Ticket Holders watched the team struggle from the 1940s through the 1960s, but the team started making it into post-season play in the 1970s. The Rangers even advanced to the Stanley Cup finals in 1972 and 1979, but lost both times to the Bruins and the Canadiens, respectively.

In 1994, the New York Rangers captured their first Stanley Cup in more than 50 years thanks to a team led by all-star center Mark Messier, defenseman Brian Leetch, and left wing Adam Graves. Following the 1994 season however, the team entered into a 7-year postseason drought.

New York Rangers Ticket Holders would see the franchise return to the play-offs in 2006, and in 2012, win its first division title in 17 years. In 2014, the team earned a spot in the Stanley Cup finals for the first time in 20 years, but lost to the Los Angeles Kings in 5 games. The Rangers posted the best record in the NHL and returned to the conference finals the following season, but lost a 7-game series to the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The New York Rangers have played at the same stadium, the famed Madison Square Garden, throughout its entire history. Rangers’ fans can find tickets to every home game at Golden Tickets.

The New York Islanders are based in New York City and play their home games at Barclays Center, located in Brooklyn. The Islanders are one of three NHL franchises in the New York metropolitan area, along with the Devils and the Rangers. Hockey fans can find tickets for any of these teams’ home games at Golden Tickets.

The New York Islanders were founded in 1972 as part of the NHL’s maneuvers to keep the New York Raiders, a World Hockey Association team, out of the newly built Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. William Shea, who brought the Mets to New York, was largely responsible for bringing the Islanders to New York, effectively dooming the future of the Raiders.

New York Islanders Ticket Holders were thrilled by the almost instant success of the team. The Islanders appeared in 14 straight playoffs starting with their third season. The Islanders won 4 consecutive Stanley Cup championships between 1980 and 1983, making them one of the 8 dynasties officially recognized by the NHL. Their 19 consecutive playoff series wins between 1980 and 1984 is a feat that remains unparalleled in the history of professional sports.

Following their dynasty era, the New York Islanders started struggling with money, an aging arena, and low attendance. Fans of the Islanders watched their team go 22 seasons without winning a playoff series prior to the 2016 playoffs. After the 2014–2015 season, New York Islanders fans would start travelling to the Barclays Center to watch their team. Today, New York Islanders Ticket Holders can see the team at either Barclays or the Coliseum as they eagerly await the opening of a new area for the team in 2021.

The New Jersey Devils were first established in 1974 as the Kansas City Scouts, and after 2 unsuccessful seasons the team relocated to Denver and became the Colorado Rockies. In 1982, the still-struggling franchise was relocated to New Jersey and renamed the Devils, a nod to a mythical creature that is said to haunt the forests of New Jersey. The team originally played their home games at the Meadowlands Arena, but since 2007, New Jersey Devils Ticket Holders have been watching the team at the Prudential Center.

When the Devils first moved to New Jersey they continued to lose but they eventually hired president Lou Lamoriello who helped the team post its first winning record in the 1987–1988 season. The Devils advanced to the conference finals before losing to the Boston Bruins in 7 games.

In 1993, the Devils hired coach Jacques Lemaire. He established a defense-oriented strategy with players such as Stephane Richer, captain Scott Stevens, and Ken Daneyko. Contributing to the Devils’ dominance was goaltender Martin Brodeur, who won the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league’s top rookie in 1994. The New Jersey Devils finally won their first Stanley Cup in 1995. Although New Jersey Devils Ticket Holders enjoyed watching the team win successive division championships in 1997, 1998, and 1999, the team would not win another Stanley Cup until 2000, followed by a third in 2003.

The Devils continued to play extremely well throughout the 2000s, but they wouldn’t reach the Stanley Cup Finals again until 2012, where they were defeated by the Los Angeles Kings in 6 games.

The New Jersey Devils had a rough start, but have become one of the most popular franchises in the NHL. Fans can get tickets to watch the Devils at the Prudential Center from Golden Tickets.

Nashville may be the country music capital of the world, but it turns out that Tennesseans may love hockey just as much. The Nashville Predators were formed in 1998 and the franchise has been playing in front of thousands of Nashville Predators Ticket Holders at the Bridgestone Arena ever since. The Nashville Predators (or Smashville Predators as some fans call them) even have their own goal song written by country superstar Tim McGraw. You’ll hear Nashville Predators fans sing the chorus “I like it, I love it” every time their beloved team scores a goal.

The Nashville Predators struggled in their few seasons on the ice, but started to see some success in the early 2000s. The Predators recorded their 100th victory on December 6, 2001. With that win, Nashville became the second-fastest expansion team of the 1990s to reach the 100-win mark. The next season, they qualified for their first Stanley Cup playoffs, but were eliminated early on. In 2006, the Predators set an NHL record by winning their first four games by one goal each. They also became the fourth NHL franchise to start the season 8–0. The last time a team started with such a strong record was the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1993.

The loss of key talent in the 2010s had the Nashville Predators focusing on rebuilding the team for several years. Nashville Predators Ticket Holders would finally see their team spring back to life in 2017 when the Predators advanced to their first Stanley Cup Finals but were ultimately defeated. On April 5, 2018, the Predators clinched their first division title in team history while also claiming their first President’s Trophy.

Nashville Predators fans believe in their team and know that a Stanley Cup win is in their future. Get your tickets to every Nashville Predators home game from Golden Tickets.
