LADY BRAVES X2: The Defeated Lady Braves program swept the Division A Middle School and 5th / 6th grade titles at the James C. Haile State Tournament on Saturday (February 1). The Varsity Lady Braves took down Pine Haven 47-40 in Murfreesboro. Defeated took home the 5th / 6th grade title as the Lady Braves toppled Rickman 50-31.

The Varsity Lady Braves concluded a 21-4 campaign with the title - the squad’s second in three seasons. The 5th/6th grade unit posted a perfect 26-0 record and made it back-to-back titles for DES 5th / 6th grade team.

LADY BRAVES ADVANCE TO JAMES C. HAILE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONSHIP: The Defeated Lady Braves advance to the James C. Haile State Tournament Division A championship game on Saturday, February 1. The unit will face Pine Haven at Middle Tennessee Christian. Tip-off is slated for noon.

The 5th / 6th grade Lady Braves will battle Rickman Saturday at 9:00 a.m. That contest will also be at Middle Tennessee Christian.

GVILLE ADDS ON: Senior running back Bryson Grisham tallied Gordonsville’s second touchdown of the rivalry clash with SCHS. Big Blue took a 13-6 lead after the missed PAT.

TIGERS FIRST STRIKE: Sophomore Maddux Randolph makes a juggling catch on a Mason Cross pass and goes 21 yards for the first GHS TD with 7:19 left in 3rd quarter.

GHS PICK SIX SEALS IT: Gordonsville sophomore Maddux Randolph’s game sealing 85 yard interception return for a touchdown was the final score in the Tigers’ 20-6 win over Smith County.

OWLS ON TOP: The Smith Co. Owls strike first in a six yard touchdown run by senior Jaeden Evans. PAT blocked SC 6, GHS 0

SCORELESS AFTER ONE IN CARTHAGE: At the end of the first frame, the Smith Co. Owls and Gordonsville Tigers deadlocked 0-0. This GHS TD run by Jemario Williams was negated by a penalty.

HALFTIME IN THE ‘BORO: The Gordonsville Tigers trail Frank Hughes 21-20 at half in the Class A semifinals. Eli Adams has posted four points and five rebounds.

TIGERS ‘BORO BOUND: The GHS student body sends off the Gordonsville High Tigers basketball team as they head to Murfreesboro for the programs first Class A State Tournament appearance since 1996. The Tigers will tip-off against Memphis Middle College at 7:15 at Middle Tennessee State’s Murphy Center.

LADY OWLS SENDOFF: The Smith County High Lady Owls basketball team are on their way to Murfreesboro for the Class 2A State Tournament. It is the program’s first state tournament appearance since 1973. Tip-off for their quarterfinal battle against Gatlinburg-Pittman is 12:45 Thursday.
