In 2015 we had to cease operations because of a drastic increase in music publishing fees. Thanks to our good friend Crazy Jay in Las Vegas, the station was resurrected and we’ve really enjoyed bringing you the music your local “Classic Rock” station doesn’t play any more.

But now the Copyright Royalty Board has again reared its ugly head and ordered another sharp spike in the rates for streaming copyrighted music, and so sadly, we’ll have to end the current stream sometime in the next few days.

We are of course fully supportive of artists being compensated for their work, but these pricing schemes actually penalize honest outfits like ours for helping to expose more people to those artists’ efforts. Large radio corporations aren’t significantly impacted by the rates or periodic increases. As the past has shown, they’ll just sell a greater volume of low-cost commercials and cut into music more often to run them.

It goes without saying that we are deeply grateful for each and every one of you who tuned in and especially those of you who made us part of your daily listening. We think our music and shows (and show hosts) were and are the best anywhere. With any luck we’ll be back in some form to play your favorite music once again. Thank you.

Small webcasters are still under attack by Big Radio,. We deeply respect music artists, but this severely hampers our ability to showcase their work and expose more people to it.

The COPYRIGHT ROYALTY BOARD (CRB) has increased the streaming royalty rates for broadcasters, raising the rate for commercial nonsubscription services -- including radio station streams -- from $0.0018 to $0.0021 per performance in 2021, a 17% increase, with a single-company maximum of $100,000 per....
