Great Grandfather Tree
Great Grandfather Tree is the name I give to this photograph of this stately California Oak that has survived the passage of time, now sitting 150 ft, above the river on magnificent bluffs that overlook the Sacramento Valley near the near Old Town Fair Oaks.
Viewed from below one can see a magnificent root system that extends out into midair giving the illusion of it floating on air.
It is truly a site to see. Hikers often are seen hiking around it and having picnics in the surrounding area.
My advice to all is "don't get too close to the edge". It can create a sense of dizziness, if you have vertigo like this photographer.

"Red Flowerâ
The Red Flower is a real favorite.
It is really a succulent which was not really very good looking but I took the photo in early morning when the dew was still on it. It was a rusty brown color but it had good form to it and dew showed up beautifully when I added the red color into the scene. This one and the Fuchsia Flower look fabulous on metal. Both have been purchased as gifts. The colors are intense and luminous on walls.

"Embracing Solitude"
Embracing Solitude
It was early morning on the river. As I often do, I would stand at the rivers edge and allow the wildlife to adjust to me being there.
I noticed when I remained quietly on the side lines they would get comfortable with my presence. That is when I would get the best photos of them.
This large goose swam over to a little bolder that was breaking the surface in the middle of the river. He stepped up on it right in the ray of the sun rising. I felt so blessed to get a photo of this handsome guy.
Later I was able to get another capture with he and his mate swimming together right into the sunrise. I call the second photo with them together Twin Flames.

"New Mexico Memory"
New Mexico Memory is inspired by the work of Georgia O'Keefe.
While visiting in Santa Fe, New Mexico a number of years ago, I had the pleasure of visiting the Georgia O'Keefe Museum. Reading about her history and studying her art enthralled me. I hadn't started creating art yet, but I was quite enamored with this woman and the way she pictured life. Her beginnings in architectural drawings and then flowers and more.
While reading her biography I considered how far ahead of her time she was, such an independent woman. Her view of life captivated in so many different ways but primarily focused around nature, as she grew in her craft it lead her to move to Santa Fe to paint a different landscape .
It wasn't my intention to create New Mexico Memory the way I did, but this is the way it evolved.
Georgia was ridiculed for some of her work around flowers. Many thought is was too erotic and suggestive.
My thought; beauty is beauty !

A new look and perspective. Looking at the reverse, the x-ray of areas of our life. What lies in those areas we don't notice in the bright day light. Shining light into areas we have not observed.
