The varsity football team starts the year off with a win against Homestead High School on Aug 23. The game’s theme was American and began at 7:30 p.m. The Hounds won 34 to 10.

Freshmen visit different club booths in the Freshman Cafeteria at the Freshman Activities Fair during SSRT on Aug 22. The Freshmen Activities Fair featured club booths ran by students. Many booths handed out flyers, had snacks, and introduced their clubs with posters.

On Aug. 11, the Northern Lights and Perseid meteor shower illuminated Indiana’s night skies. The shower started in July and will continue through most of August, but peaked overnight on Sunday.

As the school year begins on Aug. 5, check out the first semester blue, gold lunch schedule. Students may eat in Main Cafeteria, Greyhound Station, the Media Center and the Cafe. Freshmen have the additional option of eating in the Freshmen Cafeteria.

HiLite staff member and ACUMEN co-Editor in Chief Claire He was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar in early May. He is one of two Indiana students honored by the U.S. Department of Education. CHS has had at least one senior named a Presidential Scholar since 2021 and a total of nine scholars since 2010.

HiLite’s very own co-Editor in Chief Royce Brown was named the Class of 2024 Distinguished Graduate at a ceremony on April 18. Brown will be addressing the Class of 2024 during the CHS Graduation Ceremony tomorrow, May 23. A total of 135 seniors were named Distinguished and Commended Graduates for academic and extracurricular achievement.
