Sometimes, fabric is in our soul and we don’t quite realize it at the time. For Tina Griffith, that realization hit her quite a while after completing her retail management degree at Purdue University. “My favorite class in my program was a textiles class. And then you end up like, you know, 20 years later doing textiles…” the purchasing coordinator on the TVF Supply Chain Team who joined TVF in 2021 says, “which is funny.” The chemistry course was very hands-on and materials-focused.
Prior to her career at TVF, Tina worked in visual merchandising and buying roles for furniture and electronics companies. Her responsibilities these days revolve largely around working with our textile partners throughout the world and helping our customers and sales team understand what’s possible.
TVF is employee owned, which Tina says offers an entirely different perspective compared to previous employers with more traditional ownership. “You're motivated to get up and do your job every day, that's for sure,” she says, adding “the benefit is also getting that ESOP (retirement account) statement every year and you're like, ‘OK, yeah, it's totally worth it.’”
Two of TVF’s Core Values that Tina relates to most closely are Put Relationships First and Progress Over Perfection. She says “even from your first day… you know it's going to be a little different. There's people you can ask, there's people you can talk to, everyone seems to really care about you.” Tina adds that she feels supported because fellow co-owners are open to learning, answering questions, and taking steps to keep progress moving forward.
When not supporting our teams and customers, Tina says she is running her children around to sports and other activities. She fits in runs and walks of her own when she can and tries to read as often as possible.
