The station started in 1959 as an AM operation at 640 Khz, with broadcasts confined to the Dickinson campus. WDCV expanded to a 10-watt FM service in 1973, and began broadcasting 18 hours a day at 88.3 Mhz. The station increased its transmitter power to 250 watts and began stereo broadcasting in 1983. More recently, WDCV began webcasting at www.wdcvfm.com, and streaming over iPhones via Radiolicio

us.fm. We broadcast a full spectrum of musical genres. From 6 AM – noon, WDCV airs bluegrass, jazz, world music and blues programs. Student programming features contemporary singer-songwriters, rock, punk and hip-hop music, and is aired from Noon – 2am. As an educational, non-profit station, WDCV-FM is operated on a volunteer basis by undergraduate students at Dickinson College and members of the Carlisle community. The principal purpose of WDCV-FM is to provide a forum for overlooked, suppressed or under-represented voices and music. We broadcast cultural, educational, informational and other programs and materials for the entertainment and profit of the public, and for the education and training of our staff. WDCV also broadcasts Red Devil football as well as mens’ and womens’ basketball. We are Carlisle’s only non-profit radio station. As such, we have a wonderful opportunity to provide high quality programming, but at the same time, offer low rates for our many existing and potential underwriters. WDCV-FM has provided innovative programming to its devoted listeners since 1973. With its transmitter and antenna atop Bosler Hall on the Dickinson College campus, the station reaches the entire Carlisle community, as well as Mt. Holly Springs, Boiling Springs, Middlesex and New Kingston. A worldwide audience is served by the WDCV web stream. We welcome underwriters looking to reach our successful, cultured and dedicated listening audience. On-air underwriting is available at affordable daytime and overnight rates and can be purchased at quantity discounts. Please inquire about advertising on our website as well.

WDCV-FM supports the legacy and future of public broadcasting and stand with NPR and PBS. WDCV holds a "non-commercial educational" license just like NPR.
We invite student organizations, academic departments, and campus centers to utilize WDCV-FM’s non-commercial educational broadcast license to its fullest. Now more than ever, we must foster thoughtful dialogue, bring expert opinions to the forefront, and—above all—prioritize facts in our programming. Whether through public affairs discussions, student-led reporting, or creative programming that highlights marginalized voices, we must stand together to defend the role of an independent press.

Getting stuck at the railroad crossing is so much more enjoyable when paired with some Bluegrass @ Dickinson jams. Thanks to long time DJ, Davis Tracy, for the sweet tunes. We hope you are looking forward to this year's Bluegrass on the Grass Festival at Dickinson College.

Have you heard a buzzzzzing in our transmission lately? Hopefully not but we did just meet a family of bees who have taken up home in our transmitter room in the Bosler attic. These aren't your happy honey bee so they will be evicted very soon. The transmitter is still humming along well and bees have not built a nest in any equipment....yet.

Wdcv is providing the soundtrack for chickens at the farm today.
