This past Saturday, the community came together in an extraordinary display of generosity and support at the first-ever “Laces for Learning/Kicks for Kids” back-to-school shoe giveaway. The event, held in partnership with Service Chevrolet Cadillac, provided 300 pairs of shoes to families in need as they prepare for the upcoming school year.

From the early morning, cars lined up along Ambassador Caffery Parkway, with families eager to receive new shoes for their children. The event was the original idea of our General Manager, Johnette Cochran, who presented the plan to Service Chevrolet Cadillac back in January. Together, they turned this vision into a reality, ensuring that 300 children had a new pair of shoes to start the new school year.

Within just an hour, all 300 pairs of shoes were distributed, highlighting the significant need within the community. "We believe every kid deserves a new pair of shoes to start school, and we hope our efforts helped," said Johnette Cochran. "To say our first 'Laces for Learning/Kicks for Kids' back-to-school shoe giveaway was a success would be an understatement. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came by and to our amazing team for their hard work!"

The overwhelming response and enthusiasm from the community have set the stage for future events, with plans already being considered to expand the initiative. The event not only provided much-needed footwear but also brought smiles and joy to many children and families. We are so appreciative or our sponsor Service Chevrolet Cadillac.

Tom has been a staple member of the Delta Media family, and has worked in the TV market for over 40 years!
