A couple of CDs featuring original recordings from the 50s. Both are legendary in their own rights.
Fred Horrell & The Flames was a Missouri band that originally did shows with other local and regional stars like Billy Swan and Narvel Felts. Fred eventually went country and formed his own record label. He scored a couple of hits and landed in the Rockabilly Hall Of Fame.
Ruby Starr is best known as the redheaded firehouse singer for Black Oak Arkansas. Her appearances on The Midnight Special are legendary as she belted out “Go Jim Dandy!”. However before she changed her name to Ruby Starr she was known as Connie Little who sang with 50s and 60s Doo-Wop bands in Toledo Ohio.
These collections help to immortalize their early musical contributions to the world.

"Rock, Rock, Rock!" This black & white film was originally released in 1956, the small-scale look at the then new phenomenon of Rock & Roll takes a page from the books of many of the big scale musicals made by Hollywood studios. Like them, the musical performances more than make up for the thin plot and occasional weak dialogue. The biggest bonus is that the last half of the film is all music, when Alan Freed brings his show to the hero's prom. Before the advent of music videos promoting record sales, this film is essentially a 76-minute commercial for the top Rock 'n' Roll and R & B artists of the time. Starring Alan Freed (at the peak of his power and influence as the man who actually coined the term "Rock 'n' Roll") it also marks the screen debut of Tuesday Weld - albeit that her singing was actually the angelic voice of Connie Francis. On Screen performances include those from Chuck Berry, Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers, The Johnny Burnette Trio, LaVern Baker and The Freed Band.
A teenage girl attempts to convince her parents to buy her a strapless gown for prom; when her father refuses, she attempts to get the money together herself.

MEMPHIS MINNIE (1897-1973) was born in Algiers, Louisiana and recorded hundreds of deep and beautiful original blues from the 20's into the 1950's. Solo, in groups, and in duets with husbands Kansas Joe McCoy and Ernest Little Son Joe Lawlers. She had no equal as a singer, songwriter and guitarist. I admire her uncompromising spirit and sound. She was often seen with her National New Yorker Electric Spanish Guitar. Essential blues, absolutely fantastic. Cabal Records Loves Memphis Minnie.
