WPISD Counselors Raising Funds for Su***de Prevention

Wills Point ISD counselors Amanda Schmidt (District Crisis & Intervention Counselor) and Sheila Lewis (Earnest O. Woods Intermediate School Counselor) will be participating in the Out of the Darkness DFW Metro Walk on Saturday, Oct. 26. This is their 4th year to walk together on behalf of WPISD. The walk helps to raise awareness for su***de prevention and support the American Foundation for Su***de Prevention’s bold goal of reducing the su***de rate 20 percent by 2025. Su***de was the second leading cause of death for ages 10 to 14 and 25 to 34 in the U.S. and Texas is ranked last in the country when it comes to access to mental health care.
As part of their effort, the pair is asking for donations to help them reach their fundraising goal. All donations are 100 percent tax deductible. To donate online, please visit https://supporting.afsp.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=donate.team&teamID=340044

Schmidt stated, “We would love to raise as much money as possible to help this special cause.”
