Hey Family,

💡Welcome to this week’s edition of “Just One Tip” where I post a “TIP” I have learned either through experimentation or from observing others smarter than me LOL!💡

This week is all about Meta Tagging your MP3's. I use a program called MP3 tag.

🔴 What is Meta Tagging/Metadata?
When you "meta tag" an MP3, you're essentially adding information about the audio file itself. This information, known as metadata, is embedded within the file and helps to identify and organize it. Here's a breakdown:

In the context of MP3s, Metadata includes details like:
Artist name, Song title, Album title, Track number, Genre, Release year, Album artwork, ISRC, UPC, etc...

🔴 Why is it Important (especially to the radio stations)?

Organization: Metadata allows you to easily organize and sort your music library.
Identification: It helps media players and streaming services display accurate information about the song.

Discoverability: Accurate metadata is crucial for online music platforms, ensuring that your music can be found and properly credited.

Royalty tracking: accurate metadata is particularly important for proper royalty payouts to the artist.

In essence, meta tagging an MP3 is like labeling a book with its title, author, and other relevant details, making it easier to find and understand.

I am a volunteer at a charity organization called Voices Against Trafficking (VAT), a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating human trafficking worldwide, and we just announced the launch of our global music compilation called "Broken Treasures" featuring a diverse range of acclaimed and emerging artists from all over the world.
