The federal disaster declaration issued earlier this week makes area residents affected by flooding in the wake of Tropical Storm Debby eligible for Individual Assistance through the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA has provided several fact sheets explaining the program, and they are posted on my website at www.repowlett.com/ffai2024.

Residents may apply now for assistance at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling the application phone number at 1-800-621-3362 (TTY: 800-462-7585). We should have more information soon about field teams heading to the affected areas to assist, as well as the opening of disaster recovery centers.

The declaration applies to flood-affected residents in Tioga County, as well as Lycoming, Potter and Union counties.

🚨Sentinel to close offices September 20th🚨

We would like to inform the public that the Sentinel will be undergoing some changes in the coming weeks.

Firstly, we will be moving to a fully remote business model effective September 23rd. The last day our offices will be open is Friday, September 20th.

We did not come to this decision easily. There were many conversations had and things we had to consider. You may ask, what does this accomplish? It will ease the financial burden each month and helps keep the paper operating in the current economic climate. Printing and postage have gone through the roof and are putting quite the strain on weekly operations. Getting rid of the office business model was the only way we could see to keep things the same for our customers without another price increase. We hope the public will still support the paper with this decision.

Payments and news submissions can be mailed to:

Canton Sentinel
PO Box 128
Canton PA 17724

Your paper will still be mailed to your door and on the newsstands. Nothing will change in that regard.

If you need to reach our staff, you still can via email.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out.

Over the last few years, we have seen this great ministry improve the lives of so many people. Won't you join us?! You do not have to attend Impact Church to be a part. It is open to anyone in the community whether you attend church or not.
Will you give God a chance?

Attention Troy Community, gather up your TABS! Be prepared to send tabs into school during the month of October. Troy and Canton will weigh tabs a couple of times throughout the month until the Old Shoe Game, where the winner with the most weight in tabs will be announced. This year's Old Shoe Game will be played at Alparon Park on Friday, October 25th. Troy has won this battle the last two years and wants to keep the shoe and the tab trophy! All tabs are collected by Kids Can't Fight Cancer Alone representatives and donated to the Ronald McDonald House in Danville, PA. Thank you to everyone who contributes to our friendly competition each year.
