My name is John Downey. I am a Survival/SERE Specialist as well as an avid outdoors-man. I've created this page to help "survival minded" and "outdoors lovers" to connect and share education and experiences. I've spent my entire life training, working, studying, and Practicing the art of survival. I'm a former Federal Police Officer, Volunteer Firefighter/EMT, and am Special Ops Trained. As you ca

n see i have had a lot of training and that's just the tip of the ice berg. However, I've learned one very important thing through all this...The only way to become good at what your being taught is to practice...practice...and keep on practicing!!! I'm working towards and hoping to make a career out of helping others learn survival techniques and to appreciate and protect nature. Another important lesson I've learned it to stay "open minded" and "think out of the box". These are critical elements to survival but by far the most important one is "the will to live".
