Check out the May edition of PRINTED CIRCUIT DESIGN & FAB.

Reflections – even from a single discontinuity – can destroy a signal, but the effect of major discontinuities can be predicted with validated models before the board design and must be predicted after the board is designed and before it goes into manufacturing. Several models for predicting the effects of reflections are demonstrated.

Other highlights:

• India’s largest ODM discusses its plans to add PCB fabrication
• A DoE reveals the type of ESD packaging matters less than the process used
• Selling the excitement of manufacturing
• The tricks of the design trade - our newest column!
• Gaming the VR revolution.

The April digital issue of PRINTED CIRCUIT DESIGN & FAB is available.

Our top story: The electroless nickel layer plays important roles in the functionality of printed circuit boards, but calculating its thickness presents challenges. Accurate measurement of the electroless nickel layer thickness is possible if a user corrects for density changes caused by the inclusion of phosphorus in the nickel deposit in a specific sample.

Other highlights:
- Steve Robinson on APCT’s recent acquisition of ACI
- It's 11 p.m. Do you know where your design information is?
- Program management in the post-pandemic world
- Is it finally RFID’s time to shine?
- Isolating noise on a printed circuit board
- Incorporating non-heating leads into a heater pattern.
