Doris Bea Merritt Ivy, of Mountain Home, Texas, born June 28, 1933, to Audrey Snodgrass Merritt and Walter Merritt, passed away December 20, 2025, peacefully at the Ranch on the Divide.
Doris is survived by her son, Mark Ivy (Glenda), daughter, Vanette Felton (Neal), and grandson, Dakota Felton.
Doris was a graduate of Tivy High School and went on to San Marcos for college.
Doris Ivy passed away peacefully, leaving behind a life deeply rooted in the land she loved. Doris lived at the ranch, where she found her greatest joy in the simple, honest rhythms of ranch life. The wide-open spaces, early mornings, and quiet evenings were where she felt most at home.
She loved the ranch not as a place, but as a way of life--working hard, appreciating nature, and valuing self-reliance. Doris was known for her steady presence, her love of the outdoors, her deep connection to the land that shaped her days, and her love for God.
Those who knew Doris will remember her strength, her appreciation for the simple things, and the peace she found living close to nature. Her legacy lives on in the memories shared, the land she cherished, and the lives she touched.
Doris Ivy will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM, Monday, December 22, 2025, at Grimes Funeral Chapels.
Graveside services will be held privately.
We would like to thank Edna Reyes and Vanessa Lopez, Andrew and Alma Garcia and their families, Ruthie, Nena and Fatima for all their love and help, to ReneƩ Nichols for her care and love for Mom, to New Century Hospice, and to Candy and Denise for all your providing care you gave.
Condolences may be sent at www.grimesfuneralchapels.com.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Grimes Funeral Chapels of Kerrville.

Museum minute & update: Our Christmas at the Museum 2025 has come and gone! My goal was to fill our 25 chairs and have some standing, and we did that, so it was successful, and we had a great time. Author Jolene Navarro was phenomenal! Thank you, Jolene, and for your generous donation to the museum. We are also carrying her latest book, so if you just have to have a copy, see one of us! Now two bits of news! If you didn't make our Christmas party, you can see it on YouTube!!! Just do a search on YouTube for Real County Historical Museum. The program is in 4 segments, so check it out! Secondly, we are now closed for our winter break, and we have lots to do! However, if you have guests in or just want to come yourself, get with one of the directors, and we can arrange that and would be delighted to do so! So Merry Christmas and the Happiest of 2026!! See you all in March or before! PS Directors that are readily available to help you are: Mary Jane, Connie, Julie, and Linda, plus the other as well, but we are the easiest to find!! Photo: Museum Directors Tracye, Linda, and Jackson with guest speaker Author Jolene Navarro!

Unseasonably warm and dry conditions combined with freeze-cured grasses could spark more wildfires during the holidays.

Be cautious with any activity that could spark a wildfire. Approximately 90% of wildfires in Texas are caused by people and their activities, and during the winter holidays, debris burning and equipment use account for nearly 70% of them.

Follow local burn bans, maintain equipment properly, and take extra precautions during holiday activities to keep Texas safe. Read more at: https://tfsweb.tamu.edu/warm-dry-holiday-weather-elevates-wildfire-risk-across-texas/
