BURN BANS MILAM COUNTY, BELL COUNTY

Central Texas is under a level 4 or 5 wildfire risk with a “very high” fire risk east of I-35 an “EXTREME” fire danger near and west of I-35.

Central U.S. For Central Texas, strong storms are possible Tuesday morning with a developing extreme grass fire risk behind the storm system. For both the early morning severe storm threat and the post-front high fire danger, Tuesday is a First Alert Weather Day.

(MILAM) Milam County Commissioner court found that circumstances were present Sunday at 2:00pm to issued BURN BAN< all outdoor burning of unincorporated areas of Milam County for 90 day or until rescinded.

New Public Transit Services for Cameron & Milam County

Starting March 3rd, 2025 – Convenient & Affordable Transportation Options

The HOP is expanding transit options in Cameron and Milam County, offering Microtransit, OnDemand, and Rural Regional Commuter services. Residents can now schedule same-day rides within Cameron, book county-wide transportation, or travel to regional destinations like Temple using scheduled commuter stops.

Services operate Monday – Friday from 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (closed 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM). Rides are affordable, with fares starting at $2 for Microtransit, $4 for OnDemand, and $6 for Commuter services. To book a ride, use The HOP App, visit www.takethehop.com, or call 254-933-3700.

The Milam County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in finding 14-year-old Jaedyn Shaw, who was last seen in the 11600 block of FM908 around 8:30PM Monday, February 24th. She entered a 2011 Honda Accord occupied by 2 Hispanic males and featuring Texas license plate SKK3359. Jaedyn is described as being 5-foot-3 and around 150 pounds, last seen wearing a black shirt and Hello Kitty pants. She has black hair and brown eyes. She may be in the Austin or Bastrop area. Anyone with information should contact the Milam County Sheriff’s Office at 254-697-7033.
