A city-wide burn ban has been issued for Camden until further notice due to dry conditions. The Camden Fire Department and Arkansas Forestry Division spent several hours before dawn Monday fighting a wildfire in the northwestern part of the city around Westwood and Ridgeview Roads.

The fire burned a total of approximately seven acres. Although it burned to within 50 feet of several structures, firefighters were able to contain the fire before it seriously threatened any homes.

Burning is still allowed outside Camden city limits in Ouachita County, but fires should be carefully monitored at all times.
