Entrepreneur Tom Sheppard of Presence Orb, shares the experience of being part of a program to launch and accelerate businesses:
In a couple sentences, what do you do?
Presence Orb is a brick and mortar retail analysis tool. We use Wi-Fi to analyse business performance on a number of key performance metrics. We don’t need to install additional hardware for retailers to understand behaviour in their stores.
How has TrueStart helped you move your business forward?
The introductions to key decision makers have been unmatched to other investors. To have meetings with the CIO and CTO of two massive UK companies would not happen elsewhere. The mentorship of Richard Anson (Entrepreneur in Residence), a ‘been there, done that’ entrepreneur has been immeasurable. He has a truly altruistic view and doesn’t give advice that benefits the investors but instead advice that he truly thinks will benefit the company.
It’s been everything from the ability to run concerns and ideas past someone with tons of experience to getting specific point support on aspects of my business like marketing, projections and accounting. Within the TrueStart team there is a well-rounded collection of skillsets.
The TrueStart team feels like an extension of my own team…without the overhead of having them in-house!

TrueStart, a retail and consumer fund, is looking for ambitious entrepreneurs to apply for their 6-month cohort programme. The Collection offers £25,000- £50,000 worth of investment, outstanding support from industry mentors and partners (River Island, Land Securities, Accenture), an enviable and exclusive network of the who’s who of the retail and consumer world and beautiful workspace in the heart of London’s retail neighbourhood. You have one week left to apply:http://www.truestart.co.uk/thecollection/

Deadline for applications: 22 February

APPLICATIONS DUE 22 FEBRUARY APPLY The Collection Is The Collection right for you? The Collection is aimed at entrepreneurs looking to launch or accelerate their business. If you are a startup (or have a great idea) that is disruptive, and focuses on any part of the retail or consumer sectors, we w…
