Happy Veterans Day! Thanks to all who serve or have served to keep us safe.

In case you were not aware, according to Pew Research there were roughly 18 million veterans living in the U.S. in 2023. That’s just more than 6% of the adult population. Just over 7.8 million served in the Gulf War, and 5.6 million served during Vietnam. Roughly 750,000 served during the Korean War. Fewer than 120,000 WWII veterans are still alive.

The number of women in the military stands at roughly 11%. It is expected to grow to 18% by 2048. In 1973, 70% and 81% of House and Senate members were veterans. That number has fallen to 18% in the Senate and 17% in the House.
