Sad times right before Christmas

It has been a sad day for the Cable Community. Today we lost not only a history landmark, but an amazing business and someone’s home. The Brick House loop has been a keystone to the community providing great breakfast and lunch, catering to locals and visitors, it’s even been on National Television.

But even more importantly, this was the home to two of the most rooted people in our community, Larry and Heather Ludzack, the long list of community organizations, boards, and other volunteering efforts I could never name them all. They both have gone above and beyond to support their community.

The Brick House and all of their personal belongings are gone. Luckily no one was injured. There are many ways to donate and support if you would like, Cheryl Rondeau has set up an account at HCCU for monetary donations, otherwise the Cable Area Chamber of Commerce and Town of Cable offices are accepting donations and will be getting them to Larry and Heather timely!

Currently they could use, blankets, pillows, along with daily basic necessities. Please reach out for any other donations and suggestions.

I am proud to be apart of a community that can help and provide for our neighbors.

It is with extreme sadness that we let you know that The Brick House Cafe & Catering caught fire today. Our local businesses and community have come together to help in the best way they can and our local firefighters and volunteers have been working hard in this extremely cold weather to put out the fire. Everyone is safe and unharmed.

Looks like another one!

Dangerous wind chills tonight (as low as -35 F). Wind chills of -25 F to -40 F can cause frostbite in 30 minutes or less on exposed skin. Bundle up overnight and Wednesday morning.

The Town of Cable is requesting proposals for the cleanout and demolition of the former Cable School. Sealed bids with proof of insurance must be submitted to the Town of Cable office prior to January 12 at 5:00 p.m.

Warming sites:
Due to the prolonged power outages warming sites continue to be operational at the Cable UCC Church (13445 County Highway M, Cable), Drummond Civic Center (52540 Front Ave, Drummond), and the Barnes Town Hall (3360 County Highway N).

We do not have estimated restoration times, but we have seen crews working in the county and homes slowly returning to power.
