Richest Hill () is a new podcast from , focusing on the past, present, and future of environmental impact and Superfund activity in Butte. It should be a very interesting listen, and as it just so happens, Episode 1 launched today, so go check it out! I was asked to create this image for the podcast a few months back, and the design is based on some very well-known (in Butte anyways) mining safety posters from the mid 20th Century, all made by artist, John Powers. Go do a search for those as well, they are marvelous.

I repurposed a Chili Cookoff poster I made for back in 2010 for an event at tomorrow night. This image is, in my opinion, one of the only successful scratchboard pieces I’ve ever made. Also, it’s often confusing that the two arts non profits I’ve worked the most for have such similar acronyms: IPRC and IBRC, but it made for a super easy redesign.

Tonight is ’s 5th birthday party, and I made some quick buttons for all attendees. I have been associated with the IBRC since even before it’s “official” founding, having my first gallery show as a visiting artist here in July 2013 (collaborative show with ), so it means quite a bit to me to be here for such a momentous occasion tonight.

Still feeling mired in the creative slump that has kept me from doing a whole lot of anything. I truly appreciate everyone’s solutions and kind words in previous posts. And I’m thankful for my teaching job at MT Tech to at least keep my brain moving in a creative direction. Slowly but surely pulling myself up and out. Seeking other changes in life, to shake things up, I’ve been letting my hair grow out for the first time in maybe ten years, and last night got the comment that I was starting to give off early-career vibes. No complaints there.

Thank you so much to everyone that responded to my last post. It means so much and I look forward to reading your thoughts and responding to each soon. Tonight I got to print this postcard designed by .ornithology that hadn’t found the time to be printed yet. These will be for free at or Oro Fino Coffee until they’re gone. Get some to send to all the dudes. @ Imagine Butte Resource Center

I’ve been going through a pretty heavy-duty creative slump these last couple months, to the point where I’ve fallen behind on client work and have barely made any personal work. This happens, of course, but this one feels particularly intense lately. I’m doing what I can to work my way out of it, usually by doing some basic drawing exercises just to keep moving, and digging through old sketchbooks made during times when the ideas were flowing. I also found a portfolio stuffed with some of my earliest printmaking works: linoleum block prints from 1999-2006 or so, and my first screenprinting attempts from 2005-2007. I’ll be posting a few favorites. This is a two color linocut circa early 2000s. For those of you still reading, what do you do to work yourself out of these deep creative holes? I’d love to hear.

Just dropped off this little sign for .thebarber.stylist_ so she can bring her dog to work too. If you need your hairs cut, where on your head or on your face, I can not recommend Bridgett highly enough. And now you may also get to hang out with her sweet dog while getting you shave and haircut.

I’ve been making a lot of stuff I can’t or am not ready to show off yet. So here’s a plush birthday Stego for a very special 5 year old in my life. It’s our mutual favorite dinosaur., so it only made sense. I’ve dabbled in soft goods like this a few times over the years, and is always something I wish I had more time to focus on getting better at.

What in the hell is SWAYWO, you ask? Well, it’s short for , a new creative podcast hosted by my friends and ! As it turns out, they interviewed me for their current episode! Give them a follow and give it a listen. I’m sure the future interviewees will have stories more interesting than mine!

A new collaboration with , finally ready to show off! Portland’s eBay outpost office hired us to create a Paul Bunyan theme for a small room in their space. The room’s walls feature a wheatpasted, vintage-inspired Paul mural by Mike, a handpainted, typographic Babe mural by me, and some plaid wainscoting. To top things off, I made a natural-edge maple coffee table with rustic axe handle legs, a piece I’m pretty dang proud of, for sure. If you want to read more about the project, follow the Medium link in ’s profile. All photos by /
