US Army Sergeant Arrested in Alleged Murder-For-Hire Plot Against 4 People, Including 2 Minors
By: abc News

Jeremiah Peikert, 30, was arrested on Thursday by Connecticut State Police.

A United States Army sergeant and his brother have been charged in a failed murder-for-hire scheme that targeted four individuals, including two juveniles, according to officials.

Servicemember Jeremiah Peikert, 30, was arrested on Thursday by Connecticut State Police, accused of conspiring with his brother, Joshua Peikert, 32, who was incarcerated at the Corrigan Correctional Center in Uncasville at the time of the alleged scheme, according to court documents.

The two brothers have been charged with conspiracy to commit murder and conspiracy to commit risk of injury to minors, according to court documents.

The plot, in which Joshua allegedly solicited his unnamed cellmate to hire a hitman in 2022, targeted four people: a 29-year-old female, a 23-year-old adult male, a 10-year-old girl and a one-year-old girl, according to court documents.

Police discovered the adult woman is the mother of the two children and the adult male is her boyfriend, according to court documents.

According to court documents, the cellmate told Joshua he would find a hitman outside of prison to commit the murders for a fee of $10,000 per person and requested a "finder's fee" of $500 to do so.

According to court documents, the inmates agreed on two payments of $250 -- one before and one after the crime was committed and Jeremiah provided the initial payment for his brother.

Joshua allegedly wrote the targets' address, information about where they slept and where to find a spare key on a note with the word "job" on it and his first and last name, according to documents.

The alleged murder-for-hire plot was unearthed when Joshua's cellmate sent a handwritten letter to the 29-year-old woman detailing the alleged plot against her, according to documents.

The woman contacted police in Groton, Connecticut, who reported they began investigating the case in October 2022.

The unnamed cellmate told authorities he never intended to hire a hitman for the job and was just interested in collecting the money from the brothers.

"At no time did I have any intention of hiring a hitman or committing any violence," the cellmate testified, according to documents.

Investigators said they discovered Jeremiah and Joshua had discussed the alleged scheme under the guise of it being a "construction job" and that Jeremiah had transferred the $250 finder's fee to the cellmate's account.

In December 2023, Jeremiah allegedly admitted to investigators in Texas that he had made the payment and that he knew it was intended to hurt the 29-year-old woman, however, he claimed he did not know the children were involved, according to documents.

"I did not believe the kids were planned to be involved in this scheme," Jeremiah testified, according to documents.

Jeremiah did not post a $500,000 bond and was charged in a New London, Connecticut court on Friday.

No individuals were hurt in connection with the alleged scheme, according to documents.

Jeremiah Peikert was arrested for allegedly conspiring with his brother, Joshua Peikert, to hire a hitman to kill four people, including two children.

In late April, a 13-year-old girl in Yonkers, New York, was attacked at school by a group of parents defending a relative, also a student — leading to a harrowing brawl and a potential $40 million lawsuit.

Florida Teen Who Beat Teacher Now Suing School District
By: NewsNation

-Brendan Depa’s attack left the teacher with broken ribs and concussion
-He’d been diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and other disorders
-Lawyers say he was a ‘ticking time bomb,’ say the school failed to meet his needs

The Florida teen due to be sentenced for the vicious attack on a teacher’s aide last year is suing his school for failing to help him deal with numerous problems.

His attorneys say the Flagler County School District knew that Brendan Depa was a “ticking time bomb” who suffered from autism, ADHD, mood disorder, and other issues.

The now-18-year-old was captured on surveillance video in February of last year beating teacher’s aide Joan Naydich, leaving her with five broken ribs, a severe concussion, and hearing loss.

Surveillance footage from the school shows the student walking fast toward Naydich and pushing her several feet, knocking her to the floor and rendering her unconscious.

Then, the student is seen kicking and punching Naydich several times in the back and head, according to a news release from the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

Police say the reason the student attacked Naydich is because he was upset she took his Nintendo Switch away from him during class.

Depa pleaded guilty to first-degree assault in October and will be sentenced this Wednesday. The maximum penalty is 30 years in prison, and the minimum is three years. The judge will have wide latitude in sentencing since Depa was 17 at the time of the crime but is now a legal adult.

The civil suit claims that Flagler County Schools failed to properly address Depa’s many behavioral and mental issues, failed to properly train the staff at Matanzas High School, and failed to supply the legally required educational support that Depa qualified for.

Leann Depa, Brendan’s mother, says Flagler schools are ignoring the similar needs of many other students.

“This is happening to Brendan, but Brendan represents a lot of other kids who are in the same boat,” she told Flagler Live.

The suit describes the 6’6”, 270-pound teen as a “ticking time bomb,” but it also accuses the school of basically ignoring Depa: applying cookie-cutter discipline, ignoring recommendations in the private reports of psychologists his parents submitted, and delaying the development of his legally mandated Individual Education Program.

“This is against the district accepting someone for whom they didn’t have the resources, and they didn’t provide the resources,” Leann Depa said. “I think it’s easy when you look at his history and you look at his size; they should have had other resources.”

Young Brother and Sister Dead, Several Hurt When Vehicle Crashes into Michigan Birthday Party
By: AP

A young brother and sister died, and several people were injured, some of them seriously, when a vehicle driven by a suspected drunken driver crashed into a young child’s birthday party Saturday at a boat club, a Michigan sheriff said.

An 8-year-old girl and her 5-year-old brother died at the scene in the crash when a 66-year-old woman drove 25 feet (7.6 meters) into the building about 3 p.m. at the Swan Creek Boat Club in Berlin Township, about 30 miles (48.2 kilometers) south of Detroit, Monroe County Sheriff Troy Goodnough said.

“The scene was described by the first responders as extremely chaotic, with high level of emotions of those directly involved and those who witnessed this horrific incident,” he said.

Three children and six adults were taken to area hospitals by two helicopters or ambulances with life-threatening injuries, he said. Others injured were given first aid at the scene, and some were taken to hospitals by private vehicles.

Goodnough did not identify the woman driving the vehicle but said she was taken into custody and held at the Monroe County Jail, suspected of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, causing death. He said she was cooperating with authorities and likely would face more charges as the investigation continues.

Authorities were notified the woman may have been at a nearby tavern before the incident, Goodnough said, adding they closed the establishment and planned to execute a search warrant there as part of the investigation.

What do you think of the death of these two children? One 5-year-old boy and one 8-year-old girl.

Should this woman be charged with manslaughter? Or murder? What do you think?

Vandy Jane Doe

Our friend, Jacob from Unidentified Nameless and Never Forgotten, asked us to post this information concerning Vandy Jane Doe on our page. Unidentified Nameless and Never Forgotten are trying to figure out the actual identity of Vandy Jane Doe.

Here is the information available:

On September 8th, 2018, an unidentified deceased female was discovered on the side of a rural road a few miles northwest of Nashville, TN. Forensic analysis determined that the body was of a female, who was likely of African American heritage with a possible mixed ancestry of Hispanic (has since been determined African American and Italian). She stood 5'0"-5'5" and had black, curly hair (not oily). Due to the condition of her remains, her weight and eye color are unknown. She is estimated to be between the ages of 15 and 25 years old (possibly up to 30).

The female was dressed from head to toe in apparel that bore the Vanderbilt University logo. She wore a black 1/4 zip Under Armor brand top with "VANDY" in gold stitching in capital letters under the white Vanderbilt "V" within the gold star, as well as black leggings that had the white Vanderbilt "V" inside the gold star in a wide-spread geometric pattern. She also wore a ZooZatZ brand black running hip band with a zip pocket with the Vanderbilt logo, as well as a white metal necklace from the "From the Heart" brand. The necklace appears to have been missing a charm such as the one pictured in the additional photos section (for example, only as was NOT recovered on or near remains).

She also wore a green and black leopard-print bra, black undershirt, and white socks. Digital reconstructions of some of these items are displayed in photos. Facial images are reconstructions created by an NCMEC Forensic Artist and depict what the female may have looked like in life.

Please take a look at the attached flyer. If you know who this person is, please reach out to the contact information at the bottom of the flyer.

Missouri Mom Allegedly Filmed Herself Repeatedly Smothering Infant, Said She Felt 'Adrenaline Rush'

Emma Rigdon, 20, allegedly texted an acquaintance, "I really wanna kill him, but I don't want to go to jail."
By: People

A Missouri mom was arrested after she allegedly filmed herself abusing her infant son.

Emma Rigdon, 20, is facing two counts of abuse or neglect of a child in connection with the April 15 incident.

According to a St. Louis police probable cause statement, Rigdon was at the 1200 block of Warren Avenue when she allegedly pinched and slapped the boy’s leg and then placed her hand over his nose and mouth, “causing [her son] difficulty in breathing and to flail his arms and legs.”

According to the statement, Rigdon allegedly recorded the incident on video and sent it to an acquaintance.

Police said Rigdon made a second video that allegedly showed her placing a blanket and her hand over the victim’s mouth, causing the infant to cry and try to grab the blanket. She also sent that video to an acquaintance.

"IDK when I do that, I feel happy like adrenalin (sic) rush," she allegedly wrote in a text message, per the statement. "I be stopping right before he dies. Last time, he was blue."

"I really wanna kill him, but I don't want to go to jail so. It's unfortunate. He’s just gonna have to pay for his existence," Rigdon allegedly wrote.

Rigdon was denied bond, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21.

Her attorney could not be reached for comment.
