“...if you do face a struggle, it’s what you make of it that’s the most impactful thing: They were able to bounce back despite [everything]. Most of them use their struggle to either, say, write a memoir, become an advocate, or talk to others facing the same struggle. I think that is a really important theme for anyone, especially in my own life.” - Ashley Barcroft on The Challenges We Faced, The Women We Became.
Ashley Barcroft started her book, The Challenges We Faced, The Women We Became, when she was 15 years old. Now the book is out, and she’s an author at 17.
The book features seventeen interviews with extraordinary women from around the globe. Kim P**c Phan Thi (the Na**lm girl), Ugandan veterinarian Dr. Gladys Kalema-Zikusoka, anti-bullying advocate Jodee Blanco, and others share oral histories of the journeys that shaped the women they became.
To ensure these stories continue to empower younger generations, all profits support Amnesty International.
