Last night, Robert & Billie made its television debut on PBS alongside the Ellis Trail To Nicodemus Documentary! The program will be airing twice more on July 18 and 20. On Saturday, Robert & Billie screened in the Township Hall of Nicodemus, KS, the very building where the eponymous couple met and began their love story seventy years ago! The film was shown as part of this year’s Chautauqua celebration before the premiere of Angela Bates’ extended “Ellis Trail to Nicodemus” documentary, and the program received a standing ovation from the crowd!

Thanks to the Nicodemus Historical Society and Angela Bates, the staff of Nicodemus National Historic Site and the National Park Service, and all those who came out for a great afternoon of history and community!

A blast from the past! Six Nights will be making its television debut TOMORROW, January 12, on local station AuroraTV as part of a program put together by the city of Aurora, Colorado.

The program features a handful of films by past and present students of Cinematic Arts at CCA as part of the city’s month-long commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. All projects were selected for their relevance to this year’s theme of “Capturing The Dream.”

Tune in tomorrow, Friday, January 12, at 7 pm Mountain on Comcast/Xfinity Channel 8 & 880, or watch live from anywhere at AuroraTV.org. The program will also be available free on-demand after it airs!

Robert & Billie will make its LOS ANGELES premiere at this year’s Sherman Oaks Film Festival! This festival and its sister festival, Film Invasion L.A., are thoroughly committed to cultivating the LA indie film community, and it’s always an honor to screen with them. The film will screen in the 2PM block on Sunday, December 3, at the LOOK Dine-In Cinema Glendale and will be followed by a Q&A. Come by, grab a bite, and check out some excellent films!

Robert & Billie will be screening at this year's Tallgrass Film Festival presented by the Tallgrass Film Association in Wichita, KS! This "stubbornly independent" festival is one of the oldest and most respected in Kansas and a perfect place to screen this distinctly Kansan love story. The film will screen as part of the FREE Documentary Shorts block at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 5, at the Wichita Advanced Learning Library!

Robert & Billie will be making its Nicodemus premiere at this year’s Nicodemus Homecoming Emancipation Celebration! It’s an honor to have the film screen in Nicodemus, KS, where this whole love story began. The film will screen several times on July 29, from 5pm to 7:30pm at the First Baptist Church. The short documentary will screen alongside other Nicodemus-related video work, including the trailer for the highly anticipated “Ellis Trail to Nicodemus” documentary! Last Saturday, Robert & Billie screened alongside Oscar Micheaux’s Body & Soul at the Free State Festival! In tandem with the festival, the film's subject and star (MSgt Robert Brogden Sr) celebrated his NINTIETH birthday alongside family and friends at The Oread Hotel! A major thanks to the festival and its audience for their warm hospitality, engaging questions, and joining in on a chorus of “Happy Birthday!” Thanks as well to Thomas Felts for the party and event photography!

Robert & Billie has been selected for the Free State Festival in Lawrence, KS! The short documentary will screen before Body & Soul, a silent-era masterpiece directed by the legendary Oscar Micheaux! Body & Soul will feature live musical accompaniment from Paul “DJ Spooky” Miller, who composed a new score for the film as part of its recent restoration by the George Eastman Museum.

This festival will also feature new work from some current legends like Boots Riley and Kevin Willmott!

The screening will take place at 8:00 pm CDT on July 1 at the Lawrence Arts Center in Lawrence, KS!

Six Nights will show as part of a curriculum for Bryn Mawr Film Institute's “Short Attention Span Cinema” class on April 12, taught by author and critic Gary M. Kramer! From their website:

“Although they are rarely screened outside of film festivals, short films deserve anything but short shrift. These easily digestible mini-movies are often “calling cards” for burgeoning directors who want to showcase their talents in a modest form. Martin McDonagh (Three Billboards . . .) and Terry George (Hotel Rwanda) are among those who won Oscars for their early shorts.

“Short films may not require the same investment in character development that features do, but viewers’ emotions can be effectively evoked, nevertheless. A good short film works with quiet efficiency to hook viewers, carry them through the story, and deliver a satisfying payoff; the best shorts prompt us to reassess our conceptions of cinema.

“This seminar will showcase a collection of short films including “Nando” (2021), “Almost a Year” (2021), and “Six Nights” (2019)—all of which will leave students with a greater appreciation of this underestimated format.”

Six Nights has been selected for this year’s Devour The Food Film Fest in Nova Scotia, Canada! This will be Six Nights’ first festival outside the US, dedicated to all things culinary on film!

Six Nights will screen on October 23 at 5pm, paired with a narrative feature entitled Délicieux, about a chef who frees himself from his position as a servant to open the first restaurant in 18th century France. Tickets below!
