Renegade Lens Pictures is proud to announce that our flagship series project pilot, ESPERANZA, has been selected as a SEMIFINALIST in the Emerging Screenwriters Screenplay Competition. It now moves to the Finalist round.

ESPERANZA is a compelling musical drama set in 1973 Los Angeles. The story of a Chicano family rock band's meteoric rise from the barrios to pop stardom, the series unflinchingly confronts the racism, street crime, sexual predation, and homophobia that especially plagued LA in the seventies.

ESPERANZA features both original music and classic cover songs from that era - and promises to attract a wide audience, including 40 million Mexican Americans with a purchasing power of $1.1 trillion, which is more than any other racial subgroup.

Think of ESPERANZA as DAISY JONES & THE SIX crashing with the stark reality of '70s LA Chicano life, blended with the poignancy of THIS IS US.

Congratulations to all PAGE Quarterfinalists! The PAGE Awards are among the top three most prestigious competitions in the entertainment industry with nearly 10,000 entries. To make it to the PAGE quarterfinals means a screenplay has successfully endured a gauntlet of three rounds of judging to be selected among the top 10% of entries. The vast majority of which are from professional writers.
