When Advantage Audio first opened their doors for business in August, 1990, the staff consisted of Jim Hodson and Bill Koepnick (now retired). For this week’s team spotlight we’re highlighting David Bonilla!

David is our studio’s Foley Mixer, Editor and sometimes Foley Artist. David is also our awards liaison handling everything associated with the Emmys, MPSE, CAS and Peabody’s.

He's been working at Advantage for 9 years, and loves rocking out at concerts, live events and meeting new people. Fun fact: he worked as an actor when he was younger. You can catch him in a Whitney Houston video if you have a good eye!

This week for our team highlight, we’re spotlighting one of our amazing re-recording mixers, Melissa Ellis!

Melissa has worked at Advantage for 31 years and works alongside Fil Brown to create awesome mixes for our clients. She’s also an 8-time Emmy winner from 10 nominations! 🤩

A fun fact about Melissa is that she was a beta tester for protools from the very beginning. Advantage was a part of helping develop how it’s used for TV post production, and Melissa was one of the first people to use it. She used protools to edit dialog and create timed dialog guide tracks from storyboards that would be transferred to MAG reels, which were then sent to animation studios to create the animation. After the final animated picture was locked, she would then take the dialog that was already in the computer and sync it to the visuals. This would finally be taken to the stage on a hard drive, where it was mixed to tape. 👏👏

When she’s not making awesome moves in the industry, Melissa also loves to paint, do yoga, pilates, flower arrange, and spend time with friends & family.

For today’s team highlight, we’d like to introduce one of our incredible Re-Recording Mixers, Fil Brown! ✨

•Fil has been working at Advantage Post Sound Studio since 1993 and works with his mixing partner, Melissa, to make sure all of our sound mixes are fun and exciting.

•When he’s not mixing, Fil loves hiking with family and listening to the sounds of nature. One of his favorite memories of working at Advantage was when Stan Lee came by to listen to their mix for an episode of “Spider-Man”.

We are filled with grateful hearts for all the wonderful individuals we get to work with here at Advantage Post Sound. Today we’d like to highlight our superstar Studio Manager, Tammy Crosby!

Tammy has been working at Advantage Post Sound Studio for 31 years and helps make sure everything is running smoothly. She loves to garden, do yoga, crafts and work on home improvements. A fun fact about Tammy is that she originally was the receptionist by day (swipe for throwback photos 👉) and a dialog editor by night for a bit before becoming the studio manager.
