I am directing my next feature in one month and I can't believe it's finally here!
As filmmakers raising money, we talk a lot about the money we need, but I would love to show you where we have put the money we have thanks to a lot of you here! We have been incredibly fortunate between our resources, connections, and investment funds to lock in some incredible locations.
Namely - The Heritage Square Museum (pictured). This beautiful place holds a tour of Victorian homes that have been preserved since the 1870's. The value this location brings to the film is far beyond what a movie on our budget would normally receive. We are so grateful for the opportunity to shoot here and thrilled to see the final product of this.
Our cast and crew. Being in the industry for as long as we have been, we were able to secure a seasoned, professional industry team. They bring a quality to the screen that is not just great - it's cinematic.
Our last feature film (that is currently listed in Tubi's "most popular horror" category) was made on a very small budget, but distributors often assumed it was made for more than 4x its budget.
What else do we need?
We are still hitting limitations with a small budget and want to put our best foot forward. We have slots available to bring in a few more investors. Honestly - a little bit would go a long way for us right now.
With additional funds, here are a few things we plan to add:
1. Upgrade our camera and lighting kit. While we have incredible tools to work with, the more we can raise the quality of the film, the more distributors have to hang their hat on.
2. More shooting days. Indie films often suffer from run and gun mentality. We're up against the clock, wrapping things up quickly, not getting all of the shots we need. This time, we want to take our time. Get those cinematic shots, slow down and make sure we are making something truly SCARY!
3. Additional crew. Another thing indie sets struggle with. While we have a very powerful team that is used to working on a small set, being able to bring on a few more roles would, again, give us more time and space to focus on what is bringing the best quality to the screen.
A little bit goes a long way for this team and we have some very exciting outlooks for this film! I would love to hop on a call and walk you through what it would look like to join our team.
