Nearly two years ago, the WNY Impact Investment Fund made a $750,000 investment in Buffalo Film Works , the first and only private investment in the firm. The premise of this investment was that FilmWorks had the team and facility to take advantage of a growing WNY film industry, and would make our city a better place via neighborhood revitalization and job creation.

It hasn't been an easy road since that deal, but Film Works and the region in general are now poised to capitalize on that idea.

🚨The new tax credit has just passed so the tax credit is now 30% in NYS with a 10% bump for upstate. There is no longer a cap on the bump and the bump includes general expenses now before it only included below-the-line labor. There is an above-the-line aspect as well!

Great news: Assemblymember Didi Barrett introduced a bill in the Assembly to strengthen the NY film tax incentive upstate. There is now traction in both the Senate and the Assembly, but we need to keep telling our representatives that we want film and television jobs in New York!

Here are some ways you can help:
