When asked why he created the one-man band Signs (Of a

Slumbering Beast), Chris Oliveras says he had a need to break the mold. "At the time, the scene was saturated with generic metalcore, and that wasn't the path I wanted to take. I wanted to be creative and take risks that felt fresh." The project began in 2010, establishing a sound that channels throwback pop-punk melodies with a sporadic bite of metalcore. As such, it’s no surprise to hear the polarization of Oliveras’ musical influences. “I grew up listening to Blink-182, so I love fun hooks,” he admits. “But at the same time, I like to make heavier music like The Word Alive.” Keep an eye out for a new EP very soon.

Signs (Of a Slumbering Beast) explore territory of space rock and grunge in this brand new journey. The Colossus’ Shadow was mixed by Chris Oliveras and mastered by Kris Crummett. This song will appear on a new EP entitled “The Lost Color.” Thematically, isolation and loneliness coat the lyrical content. The 3-EP trilogy is a concept album that follows the main character through his ever-growing drug-induced psychosis.
