This year, the annual Grumpus Crawl will return to Main Street, joining the Christmas Opening Parade of Lights before heading to an afterparty to raise funds for the Chaffee County Boys & Girls Clubs.

Grumpus Crawl incorporates winter holiday traditions and figures from various traditions, including the Bulgarian Kukeri, the Welsh Mari Lwyd and the German Belsnickle. Morgan Reitmeyer, one of the Crawl’s creators, started the event a few years ago.

During their Nov. 11 meeting, the Buena Vista Board of Education heard the annual report from Kevin Hargrove, Facility Director.

The Facilities Department currently has three full-time maintenance staff members in addition to Hargrove. Hargrove also noted they spent 5 percent less this past year than the previous year, though their budget has remained the same.

Salida's Brandy Wade creates sound and vibration on crystal bowls while accompanying Jenna Pfingston's yoga session under the mesh roof of the Yoga Temple Saturday morning at Campout For The Cause at the Meadows west of Buena Vista. Wade and Pfingston's Buena Vista studio have had a working relationship in the Upper Arkansas Valley for more than a decade. Wade said the opportunity to "practice staying in focus" was an interesting exercise while a band conducted sound checks.
