It’s bout that time for a little reflection and appreciation. I’m incredibly grateful to all the bands and musicians who chose to work on their records and singles in 2023. It’s truly been an exceptional year of growth for the quality and quantity of work we’ve been fortunate to undertake.

Above is a selection of records and singles that we worked on that were released in 2023. We’re proud of all of em here. And we’re looking forward to the ones still in progress that we can’t wait to share and the ones we’ll be starting next year. There’s some exciting things coming up and we hope we’ll get to spend some time with you in the studio next year too. Thanks!

This single finds the band channeling José José who translated the original lyrics and made this a Latin Jazz standard. Caramelo Haze’s rendition forgoes the classic's velvet bossa tones, and instead spirals out into a sultry, minimalist trip-hop lullaby.

Excited to share that the new record, Voces, is out and streaming everywhere today! I knew I wanted to work with and the band as soon as I saw them perform the first time and this is now the second record we’ve done together. Recorded and mixed by and .elmono, I count this record among one of the most creative and inventive efforts I have been lucky to be a part of. Recorded over a year from 21-22, it’s been a long time coming. Super proud of the guys, and for their work and trust in the process. This was a true labor of love and I’m exceedingly proud of the results. Please give it a listen and share Far and wide. Big congratulations to on this fine release.

Sonic futurism, hallucinatory escape, gut-wrenched yearning… “NOESTASAQUÍ” (you aren’t here)—the debut album by on is all of these: a bold neon suite that glows in the lo-fi undertow of sunburst EQ sweeps and roasted 808s.

The newly-formed all-star outfit featuring Beto Martínez , Alex Chavez , Victor “El Guámbito” Cruz. , and John Speice . Accomplished producers, songwriters, and multi-instrumentalists, Martínez, Chavez, Cruz, and
Speice have collaborated on stage and in the studio for years, yet always in the guise of their own individual projects.

With no expectations or pre-written material to speak of, they improvised their way through a sonic landscape where Afro-Colombian folklore met steamy South Texas soul, where psychedelic Americana blended with the soaring highland sounds of Central Mexico. The end result is the electro neo-sōl speculative odyssey, “NOESTASAQUÍ” (you aren’t here)—recorded at . From post-cumbia synth vamps to disco-inflected circum-Caribbean psychedelia, the genius and versatility of these musicians shines on this release, as they embraced total creative freedom. No defined roles, no predetermined concepts, just a
sense of adventure and uninhibited experimentation all wrapped up in the
sunbaked offing of a caramelo haze.

They improvised w/total freedom: post-cumbia synth vamps met disco-inflected circum-Caribbean psychedelia & Afro-Colombian folklore met steamy South Texas soul. The end result is the project now officially signed to the marquee Latin Alternative record label ! Pulling the stalwart out of Lechehouse for the first time in about 8 years for some necessary maintenance beyond what I feel comfortable doing myself. No worries though, the has been patiently waiting in the wings for just such an occasion. It’ll fill in temporarily till our darling returns.

Never been so excited for a non instrument or recording based studio purchase. It’s been a long time coming and there will forever be a pre and post noisy/squealy window unit era at Lechehouse. Some may say that therein lied the mojo, but I would argue that at least a little still remains 😂 Over a year of setbacks and false starts, the air at Lechehouse is finally conditioned, heated and cooled and all at a whisper level. Special thanks to , and for the work and recommendations crucial to facilitating this necessary upgrade. And also thanks to everyone that has trusted Lechehouse with their recording projects, you made this happen too. Now, let’s get to work cause this s**t was expensive. 😂🤘🏽

What the?!? I don’t know who signed off on letting me on this list of renowned Austin producers and studio folk, but I’d like to say thanks to the Austin Chronicle Austin Music Awards and express my gratitude for the consideration. It’s an honor. So happy to see so many of my friends on all these lists as well, including Nané Croy and the Boys and many others. Especially excited for Money Chicha to be nominated for Album of the Year and Best Latin. And I’m super duper excited to see so many of the bands and artists that have allowed me to work on their amazing music with them at : Nemegata El Combo Oscuro Kiko Villamizar and . Congrats everyone and thanks Austin music and music fans! It’s been a rough couple years, but we carry on with rock n roll fortitude into the unknown. Vote for your faves and keep the music alive!

Excited for Money Chicha to be the KUTX 98.9 of the month for October! We’ll be celebrating the release of our new record on Oct 8 at The Far Out Lounge and Stage with the bros. Nemegata. The record itself is a hybrid of sorts with one side showcasing Chicha classics with maestro on guitar and Kiko Villamizar on vocals. Side 2 reveals brand new Money Chicha original music and the evolution of our psych Cumbia explorations. Recorded between Sonic Ranch Recording Studio by and Lechehouse Music by Beto Martinez and mixed at Lechehouse, it’s a couple years in the making and ready for it’s debut!
