Its a gift to do this work with my sons William & Rye and good friend Josh. We have launched the first episode of our 2020 pursuits : Deadman Bear. We don’t take for granted how fortunate we are to be able to do this work. As we follow the cycles of the season, join us on this journey. Deep in the Maine woods chasing our many pursuits.

This was a first for me. I got to shoot my muzzle loader for the first time at deer. Also got to to find my bullet in the ground after it passed through the bucks heart. Made for a good day deep in the timber.

Time Our biggest asset, it just races around all of us. Be sure to grab on even hit the throttle at times ! Just keep your eyes wide open. The little man sitting on my hip - Rye is now holding his own antlers high, carving his path and hitting the gas at will. Time is swift don’t hold back and please enjoy.

I took this picture several years ago on a hunting trip with William, and this is the first time sharing it. I have often looked at it with mixed emotions about all that goes on when we choose to put meat in the freezer. It was snowing hard when the doe was shot, she had a white blanket over her when we arrived. The image she left was gone by morning as the snow melted but lives on in me! Hunting is a privilege, one that comes with great responsibility. Challenges can arise on many levels when we truly connect, its about Hunting Me.

Not sure it gets any better than this!! Rye’s biggest buck ever at the grand old age of 8. I have seen many adults fall apart at the seams with a running buck, he was cool as a cucumber and landed a perfect shot! Cheers to Rye, he named the buck after the shot - Double 8 . Wow !!! Kinda thinking I won’t ever harvest an 8 pointer like this again!!! I believe he measured 164inches. William and I were together, he was filming. Remembering it like it was yesterday although it was probably 8 + years ago now. He was with another stud buck that William shot a week later and I was filming that day, same tree.
