The Broadalbin-Perth Lions Club joined forces with students of the Broadalbin-Perth High School Key Club, Varsity Club, and National Honor Society, Boy Scout Troop 5051B, and National Honor Society students from Mayfield High School in a day-long Christmas tree wrapping and fund raising project at Bob's Trees. The Lions and their young community partners staffed several locations around the sprawling tree farm and provided tree wrapping and tie down services to customers at the popular location. Students' time spent assisting the B-P Lions was credited to their community service graduation requirement and Scout merit badges.

Meet Firefighter Brady Cotter! 🌟 Brady has been volunteering withBroadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company for nearly 3 years, starting as a Junior Firefighter two years ago and earning his Firefighter status earlier this year.

A senior at Broadalbin-Perth Central School District, Brady is a dedicated 3-sport varsity athlete (football, bowling, and baseball), a member of the fishing club and varsity club, and was recently inducted into the National Honor Society— all while being an invaluable member of the volunteer fire department.

Brady was inspired to become a firefighter after seeing the commitment and dedication of the crew in helping the program grow, and he wanted to give back by offering his time and talents.

The BKFC currently has 4 Junior Firefighters and 4 Restricted Firefighters who respond to emergencies and work under supervision. If you or someone you know is interested in joining Brady as a Junior or Restricted Firefighter, reach out to BKFC here on Facebook, visit their website, or stop by the Firehouse for their Monday meetings at 6:45PM!

Meet 1st Captain Ron Miller 🌟 Ron has dedicated nearly 40 years of his life to volunteer firefighting, with 26 of those years spent as a member of the Broadalbin-Kennyetto Fire Company. His inspiration to volunteer comes from a profound desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives; knowing he can help improve a situation is what has motivated him to continue this important work for so long.

Firefighting runs in Ron’s family, which adds to the pride he feels in his role. Both his father and brother also volunteered for many years, and his son, Matt, a 2015 graduate of Broadalbin-Perth is now pursuing a career as a firefighter in South Carolina. Ron takes great pride in continuing this family legacy and is proud to know that this meaningful work is a valued tradition in his family.

On a personal note, I've had the pleasure of knowing Ron (Mr. Miller) and his family for most of my life. He was the very first firefighter I ever met and truly one of the best people in our community! I am incredibly grateful to know Ron and to have witnessed firsthand the dedication and passion he and his team bring to their vital work.
