Somerset County Park Commission

Somerset County Park Commission The Somerset County park system consists of 24 park areas and several areas of reserved land totaling 14,780 acres.

This includes General Use Parks, Golf Courses, Special Use Parks, Developed Natural Area Parks, and Undeveloped Natural Areas. The Park Commission has established a tradition of
providing quality and unique programs. Therapeutic Recreation provides year round activities and events for children and adults with developmental disabilities, as well as a summer camp for children who have a learning dis

ability or Aspergers Syndrome. Environmental Education offers programs focusing on local environmental issues, archeology, outdoor education, and bringing nature to children of all ages. Lessons and clinics are offered at many of the facilities, aimed at introducing people to a variety of recreation skills. Special events are also conducted by the Park Commission. The most known of these include the Free Summer Concert Series, the Fourth of July Family Festival, the 1770s Festival, and the Golf Tournaments. Twenty others are also held each year, each with its own distinctive focus. We invite you to examine the events, programs, and facilities listed within.

We had a wonderful time last Thursday at Jared Rosenbaum's presentation, "Rare Plants and Primary Forests of the Sourlands." 🌱✨

A heartfelt thank-you to Jared for sharing his deep knowledge and passion, to our amazing partners, the organizations that tabled before the event, and everyone who joined us in-person or virtually.

On November 1st Floating Luminaries were released at Leonard J. Buck Garden! Participants created their own fire free lanterns that were placed into the pond at night. Yesterday’s flooding caused water to pool up in the field at North Branch Park. While it closed down some of our park facilities it created opportunity for some local wildlife to take advantage of trapped fish. We spotted two bald eagles, a family of ducks, and counted at least ten blue herons!

The Stable is excited to offer public trail rides, which are at a walk only pace, to all level riders. We have limited number of horses, please register today!
