In Nairobi I searched out a great record store- Real Vinyl Guru- in the Kenyatta Market. There were two DJ’s from Manchester loading up on house music. I was interested in Afrobeat, Soukous, Benga. The lp’s were all from local labels and were exquisite but expensive- as well they should be. I opted for 45’s which are easier to carry. So happy to preview these vintage 45’s and take them back to play on my WPKN ‘Radio Base Camp’ show when I’m back.

THANKSGIVING WEEK. Time keeps on ticking ticking ticking. Over the weekend I pulled together my Top 100 Tracks of 2024 from my Radio Base Camp shows this past year. It was another great bounty of creative songs and wonderful artists. The first two tuesday Radio Base Camp shows in December will feature many of these songs. I'm also working on my 10 Favorite Albums of 2024. After that I will be on hiatus until April 2025.
Tomorrow's show is going to be very enjoyable. I've been putting it together and it has a slightly more quiet vibe to it- more singer-songwriters than Indie Rockers but they will be there as well. Have a great week and give THANKS for whatever you're thankful for.
Here is the lineup of artists for Tuesdau Nov. 26.:Father John Misty, Suki Waterhouse, The War on Drugs, Ganavya + Shabaka Hutchings, Bab L' Bluz, The Jam, DIIV, Playing for Change-Peter Gabriel, Horsegirl, A.G. People ask - "well what kind of music do you play". That's a hard one but this new release that will be out in Feb. 2025 is a snapshot of things I like in a song- creativity, commitment, focus on a vibe and refreshingly different. Here's a young French female artist who goes by the name of Oklou and the song is 'choke enough'

I will be doing a Radio Base Camp fill-in today from 11:00am to 12:55pm on WPKN 89.5-FM (Bridgeport) or stream it. A weekend slot- novel for sure. Maybe once or twice for fund drives but I'm looking forward to the show. I'm usually on Tuesday from 7am to 9am drive time - I will enjoy playing more mid-day today. I have a typical RBC show with mostly newer releases and a few vintage tracks as well. Tune in if you are raking leaves, taking a car ride or a walk, hitting the gym or just hanging around the house.

Much easier doing a music show this week. I had enjoyed so very much putting together 'Songs to Vote By' but it did not seem to work out very well. So no more politics for a while. We give it a break and reflect. I've pumped this show full of GREAT new tracks. It's been three weeks since I've focused on new releases- I did a '2-Hour Technicolor Dream' show two weeks ago and then last week's election show. Lets switch gears tomorrow and just feel the vibe of the mix. I really like this show and hope it can put a smile on your face and make you move and groove a bit. Here are some of the artists- most every one a new(ish) release. Thurston Moore, SUUNS, Guru w/Ronny Jordan, Erykah Badu, Chinese American Bear, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Scissor Sisters, The Dare, Dummy, Objekt, Gallus, Girl and Girl, Anna Erhard, The All Night Workers, Wussy, Haircut 100, The London Suede, Delays, High Vis, Rosalie Cunningham, Jade Haorpins, Japandroids, Underworld, Rose City Band, Haley Heynderickx, Roge, Tess Parks, Robert, Liam Bailey and John Paris
