Some of us struggle just to balance our checkbooks.

MRH senior Daniel Matz and sophomore Christina Esbeck joined 70 other students from the region at the first annual Washington University Math Excellence Competition over the weekend. Christina says, โ€œDuring this event, we competed in an individual round which lasted 90 minutes, a speed round which lasted 30 minutes, and a team round which lasted 45 minutes. Daniel and I were on a team together, where we received 2nd place. I got 8th in the individual, and Daniel got 3rd. We also had one more person on our team, a freshman from Kirkwood High School. It was a really great experience and there were a lot of challenging problems!โ€

Daniel adds, โ€œIt was extra impressive since most of the students were presumably from mathlete teams (they were very well-dressed).โ€

Well done, Blue Devils!
