Jeremy Reedy, 9, of Brentwood was diagnosed with CML, a rare form of leukemia in children, in April 2023. Through medicine, the leukemia was kept under control. But this past August, Jeremy’s condition entered a new acute phase, AML, which required chemotherapy, and eventually a bone marrow transplant.

Heritage High School theatre students recently gave a preview of their upcoming show “Pippin,” an entirely student-led theatre production before its grand opening next week from Jan. 10-11 at 7 p.m.
The production is the first full-length play that is entirely directed and produced by Heritage’s students without assistance from a theatre teacher.

A fire destroyed an auto shop at the corner of Lone Tree Way and Worrell Road in Antioch shortly before 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.
Nobody was hurt in the fire and according to an initial investigation by ConFire, the fire is said to be an electrical fire, initially starting in a utility room inside the building.

On Wednesday, Brentwood police shared a video of an arrest made early morning last Friday following a call regarding a burglary.
According to BPD, they responded to a burglary alarm in the 2400 block of Empire Avenue around 6 a.m. last Friday, and saw 31-year-old Daniel Whelan exiting the rear of the business.
Officers chased Whelan, who fled on a bike, and eventually took him into custody.
Whelan was arrested in suspicion of burglary, possession of burglary tools, and other related charges.

Golden State Orthopedic and Spine along with the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce held a Ribbon cutting ceremony that took place at 101 Sand Creek Road on Thursday November 20th.
The ribbon cutting recognized Golden State Ortho for its Urgent Care, and MRI services it has provided to Brentwood residents since earlier this year.
The special district that oversees the maintenance of Victoria Island’s levees voted to continue its emergency declaration as it works with the state to make permanent fixes to the levee leak from Oct. 21.

The Freedom High School Astronomical Society hosted an Astronomy Educational Event at Almond Grove Elementary School on Oct. 22 where elementary students participated in hands-on educational activities, STEM (science, technology, education, math) based empowerment, and interacted with high school students who serve as positive role models for them.
