City of Brenham Animal Services Cancels Clear the Shelter for September 7, 2024


It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to announce the cancelation of this weekend’s highly anticipated "Clear the Shelter" event. Due to a mild illness affecting some of the animals in our care, the staff made the difficult decision to prioritize the well-being of our beloved pets and cancel.

"Our top priority is the health and happiness of the animals, and we believe it’s important for every potential adopter to meet their future pet in the best condition possible," said Animal Services Manager Megan Gray. "While the animals are making a speedy recovery with excellent veterinary care, they need just a few more days to be fully ready for adoption."

Although the in-person event, initially scheduled for Saturday, September 7 from 12PM to 5PM, has been canceled, Animal Services is still offering free adoptions throughout September to encourage residents to find their forever furry friend. Gray continued, “We are confident that this brief delay will allow for a smoother, healthier transition for pets into their new homes.”

Due to unforeseen circumstances and changes in management, Travis Tritt and Tyler Reese Tritt will no longer be performing at the Washington County Fair on Saturday, September 21, 2024.

However, the Washington County Fair is excited to announce that GRAMMY® Award-winning singer-songwriter, Carly Pearce, will be headlining the 156th Washington County Fair on Saturday, September 21, 2024. Texas country star, Jon Stork, will open for Pearce.

We are thrilled to welcome Carly to Washington County!
