The work on the "Mile-Long Bridge" on U.S. Highway 180 over Hubbard Creek Lake has been delayed due to paperwork issues and is now scheduled to begin on or after June 30, according to the Texas Department of Transportation. Read the latest news about the bridge work on the Breckenridge Texan:

Last week, four Stephens County 4-H'ers competed at the Texas 4-H Roundup and came home with two State Championship team awards and several individual awards. But, those are just the latest achievements of local ag students. Due to a water line break on Saturday, June 8, 2024, the TCEQ has required the Stephens Regional Special Utility District water system to issue a Boil Water Notice to its customers in the southeastern portion of the county, specifically those on FM 207 and FM 576 East beginning 2 miles east of the Highway 183 intersection, and on FM 1852, including all adjacent Stephens County roads. Carter BloodCare and the Rotary Club of Breckenridge are set up at TSTC until 5 p.m. today, Thursday, June 6, for the first day of the 2024 Battle of the Badges Blood Drive. If you can’t get by today to donate blood, they’ll be at the Breckenridge Medical Center from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, June 7. When you donate blood, you can cast your vote for either the Breckenridge Fire Dept., the Stephens County Sheriff’s Office or the Breckenridge Police Dept. The winning organization will receive a plaque and “bragging rights” for the next year.
