The Muscovy Sanctuary is looking for volunteers to assist with ducks in their new home. Gail recently moved many ducks from Riverview to Plant City with a minimal support crew. Any donation of time or money would help them out greatly. A 501c3 non-profit organization.
Good Evening everyone. We are putting out an URGENT call for volunteers! If you live anywhere near Plant City, Florida or Riverview, Florida, this is an absolute immediate call for help!
The ducks are thriving in Plant City, but we have another, more uncommon, situation on our hands dealing with the pen.
Let us explain for a minute.
We've built the pen to be sturdy and predator proof, and for the most part it is, but there's still a few things that aren't completed. There isn't a lot of shelter, so that needs to be completed. The electric fence and underground wiring needs to be completed. There is so much to do. Up until now, we've had a whole team working on this stuff. Our President, our main duck wrangler, a board member (who put in SOOOO much work on the building of the pen itself), and several volunteers. But unfortunately, as of now, we only have one person primarily working on this with the occasional (as often as he possibly can) help of that amazing board member. That main person would be our President. Our Vice President traveled from Ocala for a week to help us, but ultimately had to go back home due to work obligations. She's hoping to return sometime within the next week, but it will only be for a day. Our main duck wrangler and assistant just moved over 7 hours away, and the board member who was putting in so much effort, is completely and totally exhausted. Leaving our President alone to do not only almost everything at this new location, but everything at the other location 40 minutes away (where the imprints stayed), completely on her own.
She's exhausted from having to go back and forth and do it all on her own. She's BARELY able to accomplish everything that absolutely needs to be done, and the progress is slow because of it. Not to mention that the solution to the new duck pen not being completely 100% predator proof is to have someone sleep in the pen with the ducks. Guess who's doing that too.
The point is, this is a call for volunteers. We NEED some awesome people to answer the call for help and lend a hand. Especially if you have any sort of experience dealing with wires, fences, securing tarps, digging holes, and/or livestock care (specifically poultry). But you're absolutely welcome to volunteer with us even if you have no experience. We can show you what to do. We desperately need help to get this finished so that everyone can go home at the end of the night, be able to spend time with their families, and the ducks can get fully settled into their new routine and home.
If you're interested, DM us and let us know! We can discuss positions available and find the perfect place for you.
