CROSSLAKE ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE, FRIDAY 9.13.2024

CSAH 3️⃣
o Pavement removal is complete
o Storm sewer install is complete.
o Road grading and gravel work complete from roundabout to Pioneer Dr intersection.
o Material recycling operations complete.

CSAH 6️⃣6️⃣
o Pavement removal is complete.
o Storm sewer installed between Swann Drive and Post Office on west side of road.
o Material recycling operation began at “Exchange Property” today. Operation will resume Monday – Thursday next week.

Next Week: (Storm Sewer, Road Grading, Curb)
MONDAY
CSAH 3️⃣ – Finish road grading and gravel operations.
CSAH 6️⃣6️⃣ – Storm Sewer install on west side of road.

TUESDAY

Traveling through work zone:
- Dry conditions for this week and next. The Contractor is being paid to water the roads twice a day for dust control. The construction road on CSAH 66 gets rough quickly from the excessive amount of traffic using it. It was repaired yesterday. We will plan to repair it weekly.

CSAH 66 – Pavement Removal to Bald Eagle Dr.

▶️Wednesday:
CSAH 3 – Storm sewer install.
CSAH 66 – Pavement Removal to Bald Eagle Dr.

▶️Thursday:
CSAH 66 – Finish pavement removal to Bald Eagle Drive. Infiltration pond construction on Campground site. Begin Storm Sewer Install.

▶️Friday:
CSAH 66 – Strip topsoil. Infiltration pond construction on Campground site. Storm sewer install.

⚠️Traveling through work zone:
Constructing roads under live traffic is very challenging. Please be patient as the contractor makes frequent traffic changes over the next few weeks. The work zone roads may be rough and extremely dusty. Please limit travel in the construction area use caution while driving.

*️⃣ Fun Fact: The neatly arranged hoses you see on CSAH 66 are for storm sewer dewatering, used to remove water so the contractors can install the new storm sewer.

We have an important update for Phase 2 of the road construction in Crosslake from Crow Wing County:

CSAH 3:
📅 September 3rd: Barricades and traffic control setup
📅 September 3rd - 4th: Pavement removal
📅 September 9th - 10th: Storm sewer installation

🚧 Road Closed. Detours are in place. Please note that Pioneer Dr and the CSAH 37 intersection will be temporarily closed during the storm sewer installation. Access to local businesses will be maintained through the roundabout.

CSAH 66:
📅 September 3rd: Barricades and traffic control setup
📅 September 3rd: Pavement removal up to the Post Office Entrance
📅 September 4th - 5th: Pavement removal up to Bald Eagle Drive
📅 September 11th: Storm sewer installation begins

🚧 Road Closed. Detours are provided. Two-way traffic will be accommodated for access to local businesses.

ROAD CONSTRUCTION UPDATE 8.19.2024
This Week: (Paving & Topsoil)
✔️Monday – Finish topsoil work and cleanup. Install irrigation pipes in Roundabout center.
✔️Tuesday – Soil preparation and seeding. “Welcome to Crosslake” sign installed in roundabout center.
✔️Wednesday – Landscapers on site to begin planting in greenspaces (trees, shrubs, grass). May take up to 5 workdays to install all plantings.
✔️Thursday – Permanent Traffic Signs will be installed.
✔️Friday – Final layer of asphalt paving.

7.31.24 - CROSSLAKE ROAD CONSTRUCTION PROGRESS

☑️CONCRETE CURB & GUTTERS - scheduled for Thursday & Friday.
☑️ACCESS TO Cross Lake Campground - On Wednesday and Thursday, the Camp will be accessed using the main entrance to allow for concrete curb placement. On Friday, it will be switched back to the Temporary Access Road. ALL Camp traffic will continue to access the project site from the south approach of CR 3.
☑️ACCESS TO Crosslake Log Village - Access to the Village parking lot will not be restricted by the curb installation. Concrete curb will be placed over half the entrance on Thursday, leaving an opening for vehicles to enter the Village parking area. The second half of the entrance curb will be poured on Friday. The cured half will be used for vehicle access on Friday.
☑️FUN FACT: How do they grade the roads so quickly? The dozers are equipped with GPS (global positioning system) sensors that connect to satellites orbiting approximately 12 miles above the earth’s surface. An onboard computer screen tells the dozer operator precisely where to cut/fill the road grades in accordance with the Engineers Design. The system has an accuracy of 1-inch or less.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATES:
☑️Stop signs raised at CR 3/37/Pioneer Drive to increase visibility.
☑️Just over 1000 feet of storm sewer pipe placed in the ground between the Bridge and Holiday Station. The completed pipe segment consists of the largest and deepest pipe on the entire project (also being most time consuming). On track to finish Phase 1 storm sewer this week.
☑️ New Sanitary Sewer line has been installed for the Campground.
☑️ Holden Electric on site to install underground street light wires, foundations for light poles, and irrigation conduits to center of Roundabout.
☑️Dewatering pipes will be removed Wednesday.
☑️Road Grading work will take place Thursday and Friday. This includes shaping/molding the new roadbed, roundabout, trails, and sidewalks.

PROJECT UPDATE: Preparing for storm sewer installation this week.
✔️The campground entrance remains from the south in accordance with the detour signage. Campers will use the main entrance Tues. and Wed. July 16-17. The temporary access will be reinstated once the storm sewer is past that point.
✔️The barricades on CSAH 3 east are only open for material delivery to the project, please do not enter the construction site here)
✔️The City of Crosslake is installing speed bumps in the temporary roadway between Andy's Restaurant and the Holiday Station.
✔️There has been reports of the "Stop Sign" at CR 3/36/103 not flashing, but it's working today. All State Traffic Control has been called to check it this week.
❗️Please slow down and use extra caution when driving, walking or biking near the construction zone and at all the detour intersections.

As we all navigate the new routes to Crosslake businesses, the sun is setting on day three of the Crosslake Intersection project.

The roundabout at CR 3 and CR 4 north of Merrifield is progressing. Due to June rains, the intersection will not be open by July 4th as originally hoped for. Mid-July is now the anticipated date.

Some on-line mapping services are indicating that CR 3 is closed at the intersection. Please know that the CR 3 bypass lane remains in-place for use and only CR 4 is under a detour.
