Why this Veteran LOVES Joe Biden!
Because Joe Biden loves our veterans and he takes care of them.
In January 2022, my husband Leif Jonassen, Jr. was diagnosed with Cardiac Amyloidosis caused by Agent Orange which he was exposed to during his Army Service in Vietnam 1965 to 1966. We were told that the life expectancy once diagnosed would be 18 months.
The doctors told us then about a new drug developed by Pfizer called Vyndaqel that would not cure him but it could prolong his life. They applied for it from the VA since Leif is a 100% disabled veteran. The new drug cost $20,000. per month and he would need to take 80 mg per day with 4 - 20 mg pills daily. The VA responded by sending him just 20 mg per day saying that would be all he would need.
At this point, it was January 2023 which was 12 months since his diagnosis and he was running out of time, if it were to work in order to prolong his life. Needless to say, we were distraught and desperate to get him the proper daily dosage which would be 4 pills instead of just one.
So I wrote the most important e-mail that I have ever sent in my life. Actually I sent two e-mails, one to President Joe Biden and the other to the CEO of Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. In it I wrote about Leif’s service to our country and his being awarded 2 Purple Hearts, 1 Bronze Star and 20 Air Medals and 1 Air Medal with a V for Valor.
I shared with them Leif’s Cardiac Amyloidosis diagnosis and that his Doctors ordered 80 MG per day for him but the VA was only giving him 20 MG per day. In closing, I begged them to remember that this War Hero had served his country with Valor and now his country would need to reward and return his service by ordering the proper dosage for this medication ASAP.
Within 3 days of the e-mail being sent to The White House, Leif received a phone call from our local VA telling him that they had just received word from The President and he wanted Leif to receive the proper 80 mg dosage immediately and it was being sent out to him that day.
Needless to say, Leif was shocked and asked me, “Does the VA have a President? ”
My reply, “No they don’t, but we do and his name is Joe Biden.”
Much to our relief the pills were quickly delivered in a box for 3 months, all $60,000 of them to our door step. It is now over two years since Leif’s diagnosis and he is still receiving his prescription every three months just like clockwork.
Also I would like to share that we then received a call from Pfizer asking if Leif had gotten the Vyndaqel from the VA? He said Yes, they then thanked him for his service and wanted us to know that if ever need be they would be proud to issue him a Compassion Prescription for the medication for as long as he would need it.
Is this not a Great County, when a simple e-mail can bring about such an amazing response?

As of July, 2024, we are thankful to be Americans and thankful for a President that heard a Veteran’s Voice and responded with gratitude for his services well rendered to his Country.
