Read this article fearing Baroque Music Montana, in Early Music America, here:

https://www.earlymusicamerica.org/emag-feature/community-climate-change-early-music/

“One promising development is the creation of new ecosystems in places where they simply did not exist before and may even seem unlikely, such as ensembles in Wyoming and Montana. Pioneering musicians like Baroque violinist Carrie Krause are inventing a scene. Performing around the state in intimate and even unusual settings, Krause’s Baroque Music Montana is an umbrella organization that has established a small but sustainable financial model.”

📣Introducing “Opera for All”!
Opera For All is a new program designed to keep Intermountain Opera Bozeman's performances accessible to anyone who would like to see them, but finds the cost of a ticket prohibitive.

HOW IT WORKS:
For each of our three mainstage productions, we will announce a date on our website and social media in which a limited number of completely free tickets in all seating tiers will be available on our ticket website (with a promotional code), over the phone, or in person at the Opera Office.

Each show will have a different Opera For All day. Tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.

And when they're gone, they're gone…until the next Opera for All day.

Our first Opera For All day for The Coronation of Poppea is Tuesday, September 5. Beginning at 10am, we'll be releasing 20 tickets at no cost. First come first serve. Stay tuned on September 5 at 10am to receive the Opera for All code.

This program is intended for those who might otherwise not be able to attend. Please use responsibly:)

A favorite composer of Chatham Baroque and its audiences, Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber, was born on this day in 1644 in Wartenberg, Bohemia. The Bohemian-Austrian composer and violinist was among the major composers for the violin in the history of the instrument. His own technique allowed him to easily reach the 6th and 7th positions, employ multiple stops in intricate polyphonic passages, and explore the various possibilities of scordatura tuning. He wrote operas, sacred music and music for chamber ensembles. One of the earliest known pieces for solo violin is the monumental passacaglia of the Mystery Sonatas. Biber settled in Salzburg, after leaving the employ of Prince-Bishop Karl Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn, and remained there for the rest of his life, publishing much of his music. In the late 20th century Biber's music, especially the Mystery Sonatas, enjoyed a renaissance and it is widely performed and recorded.

Meet violinist Cherí Ladd LeCain! Cherí’s journey with the Bozeman Symphony began when she joined the orchestra in 1994. Her passion for the orchestra led her to transition to the administrative team in 2020, after having served as an English as a Second Language teacher and program administrator for 30 years. She now serves as the Symphony’s Development Associate and Board Liaison.

Looking ahead to the 2023/24 season, Cherí is most looking forward to “O Fortuna!” Orff’s Carmina Burana. “I am absolutely enamored with the Bozeman Symphonic Choir. The blend of nearly 200 choristers and orchestra musicians performing together on stage is sure to create awe-inspiring, glorious, acoustic magnificence.”
