Say Brother Kwanzaa Special Clip
In this clip from Say Brother’s Kwanzaa Special, Brother Imara explains one of the seven principles celebrated during Kwanzaa, Kujichagulia (meaning self-determination), observed on the second day of Kwanzaa. Today, being the first day of Kwanzaa, is a day celebrating Umoja, meaning “Unity” in Swahili.
The following principles are Ujima (collective work and responsibility), Ujamaa (cooperative economics), Nia (purpose), Kuumba (creativity), and Imani (faith). You can find more Kwanzaa-related clips from Say Brother in the GBH Open Vault archives: https://bit.ly/48wQFGx

Long before Christopher Walken became an Oscar-winning actor and Lidia Bastianich became an award-winning chef and public television host, 14-year-old Lidia worked at Walken's Bakery in Astoria, Queens. The two remain friends to this day.
With the help of her family and a few celebrity friends, "25 Years with Lidia: A Culinary Jubilee” looks back at a quarter century of "Tutti a tavola a mangiare!" both on and off screen. The one-hour primetime special premieres Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. on GBH-2, the PBS App + PBS YouTube channel.
Something Extraordinary: Backstage with Lea Salonga
Filipino musician Felipe Padilla de Leon wrote "Payapang Daigdig" as a way to find peace and hope amidst the chaos and devastation that the city of Manila faced in the wake of World War II.
It's Tony Award-winning Disney and Broadway star Lea Salonga's favorite holiday song and one of the many magical moments from the 20th televised year of PBS's "Christmas with the Tabernacle Choir" special. Sometimes all it takes is home-cooked risotto, red wine and Italian music... After becoming a frequent guest at Felidia, Julia Child invited Lidia Bastianich to join her on an episode of PBS's Cooking with Master Chefs. Lidia accepted. The rest is public television history.
Watch the moment that birthed an iconic 25-year run (and counting!) on public television in "25 Years with Lidia: A Culinary Jubilee," now streaming on the PBS App + the PBS YouTube channel.
