What do all these seats have in common? They are each upholstered using an 8-way-hand-tied foundation technique and foam core, double-battened down cushions.

But what does THAT mean?? An 8-way tie foundation refers to seat construction where the coil springs within the chair are hand-tied to the frame in eight different directions, creating a very sturdy and comfortable seating surface. It is considered the gold standard for high-quality upholstery due to its durability and even weight distribution. Each spring is secured from front to back, side to side, and diagonally, providing maximum support. So that foundation, shown set into the seat frame in the last photo, is what we're referring to when we say 8-way-tied foundation.

Now the cushions being double-battened down cushion with foam core simply means that the down is quilted into cells (battened) to prevent it from clumping and sagging over time. The battened down is wrapped around both sides of a foam core for added support and comfort.

The combination of these techniques, along with the finest leathers and fabrics, makes for the most luxury comfort available.
