ACTFL is a time to learn from others and discover what’s happening across the country. I love being part of this vibrant community, and I’m passionate about sharing ideas and resources that empower educators.”

Growing up moving from place to place with her dad in the US Navy, Cheryl Kincaid, who is presenting at , discovered a lifelong love of languages and cultures. Today, that same curiosity fuels her mission to help educators create classrooms where language learning connects students to the world.

This year, Cheryl is presenting “Real-World Communication in Spanish Elementary Classrooms,” an exhibitor session focused on helping teachers bring authentic communication and culture to life for young learners.

We recently asked Parthena Draggett what inspired her to become a language educator: “I grew up naturally immersed in languages and cultures. Languages were never ‘foreign’ to me but rather beautiful ways to communicate with my family. When I studied Spanish and French in high school, I was so inspired by amazing teachers who made language learning so engaging. I knew then that I wanted to teach and motivate students to love language communication as I had, so this became my lifelong career and passion. I avoid the word "work" because I loved 39 years teaching too much to label it work.”

Parthena Draggett, author of Temas and co-author of Thèmes, is attending and presenting at with Vista Higher Learning TODAY! For Parthena, ACTFL is all about reconnecting and collaborating with friends and colleagues who share her lifelong passion for world languages and cultures.
