Tis’ the season for gathering.

had amazing time networking and noshing yesterday evening at Dorchester Bay EDC’s Winterfest Open House to celebrate community. It was packed! I reconnected with my Cambridge Savings Bank favorites, Monique Briggs, Eddy Desir, and Desmond (the popcorn raffle winner). I can’t forget my Dorchester BayEDC favorites, Laurene DaRosa, Donor Relations Manager, Nicholas Fernandes, Lending and Outreach Officer and Kimberly Lyle, CEO. Upham's Corner Main Street’s Executive Director, Val Daley, was in da house. The food was catered by Rebecca’s and their mashed potato bar stole the show.

Buddy the Elf says the best way to spread Christmas cheer is by singing loud for all to hear.

Christmas cheer was alive and well on Saturday at Upham's Corner Main Street’s tree lighting event. There was a small and mighty crowd of Christmas well-wishers and holiday mice. The Boston Latin Academy Choir and ballet dancers from the José Mateo Ballet Theatre brought the cheer. Mr. and Mrs. Clause arrived by troller to help light up the Christmas Tree.

It was a cold Saturday evening in Dorchester, but the warm Christmas spirit flowed throughout the crowd.

Not only is a graphic design vendor, but we also support our clients.

Day Two of Networking: Morning

Yesterday, Roxbury Main Streets hosted their annual Women’s Breakfast with the phenomenal speaker Collete Phillips, Founder, President, and CEO of Get Konnected!

You might recall was in the house at Get Konnected’s Taste of Ethnic Boston a few months ago savoring all of the delicious offerings. (see my previous post).

Yesterday’s early morning workshop added another layer to Center for Women & Enterprise’s Women of Color Summit on Wednesday. It was great catching up with clients, colleagues, a potential new client, and meeting new friends.

Check out my signed copy of Collete’s new book, The Includers.

And finally, thanks to local vendors, Frugal Bookstore Inc., Fire Code Design, and Dudley Cafe

If you weren’t there, you certainly missed out. See you next year!

Day One of networking and I am filled!

Yesterday was an exciting day with the Center for Women & Enterprise Women of Color's Summit at in Worcester. Driving west on the Mass Pike, there was an explosion of yellow, orange, and red trees.

At the summit, I connected with new and familiar colleagues. I was delighted to see Mavis Chin of Zenagos, Jeanette Velasquez of Velasquez Tax & Business Services, Victoria Downes of Eastern Bank, Annis Gill-Miller of Northern Bank, Catherine Balungi Waiswa of Love Balungi, Shana Bryant of , and more.

The morning fireside chat with Raquel Graham of Roq Innovation and CWE's Kimberly Zouzoua was AWESOME! I am inspired!!

About last night…

It was a pleasure to support the great work of Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation last night. It was a night of poetry, with , and celebration.

Always fun running into clients Kevin Bynoe and Chris Shepherd of UHM Properties, Rahsaan Hall of The Urban League of Eastern Massachusetts, and Kelley Chunn of Kelley Chunn & Associates, colleagues Adam Gibbons of Community Collaborative Consulting, , and Angela Yarde, and new friend Betsy Miessner all at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. I’ve visited the JFK Library, which is next door on many occasions, but never visited the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. The food was amazing and the flowers were beautiful. I had a blast! Continue to do the marvelous work that you do DBEDC!!!

Anniversary Logos...

I love it when clients allow my creativity to flow!

Over a decade ago, I worked with the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations (MACDC) to create their 25th-anniversary logo. I enjoyed working typographically with the “25th” and “A,” to create a visually exciting space.

Recently, I had the pleasure of working with UHM Properties to add an anniversary element to their existing logo and with the Boston Foundation’s SkillWorks to create a new and an . It was great working with all three organizations to develop their anniversary logos and elevate their .

If your organization is approaching a milestone year in business and needs to develop a logo or a redesign to incorporate your anniversary, reach out to JGJ Designs. We’ll get the job done!

They say, each one, teach one. I say, each one, teach a few. I believe learning is lifelong in both my personal and business lives.

Thanks to Jada Turner of Black Owned Bos. and a Northeastern University alumni, for hosting an amazing event. And, thank you to the Northeastern University Alumni Center for creating space and community for students, alumni, entrepreneurs, and friends. It was great meeting NEU undergrad students, Skyar, Jonathan, and Jamila at last night’s event. It was also great running into friends and colleagues. I gleaned new business takeaways and left wanting more. Already connected with the speakers on LinkedIn and FB. Working to incorporate last night’s tips into . What an amazing night, especially the artwork in the elevators.
