The Fenway News Hyperlocal news and opinion for Boston's Fenway, Mission Hill, Audubon Circle, and Kenmore Square.

The first issue of The Fenway News hit the streets in March 1974, and it has come out regularly (with a couple of...sabbaticals) ever since. A trio of neighborhood organizers started it as part of efforts to inform residents and increase effective neighborhood opposition to the City-sponsored Fenway Urban Renewal plan that would take private property by eminent domain and turn it over to developer

s. One legacy of the same group of activists is the citizen advisory committee (now known as impact advisory groups) that must be set up for every project supervised by the Boston Redevelopment Authority (now known as the Boston Planning & Development Agency).
