- 1 onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon grated ginger
- 2 cups beef broth
- 2 cups water
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce (patis)
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 potatoes, peeled and cubed
- 1 large cabbage, cut into wedges
- 3 corn, husked and cut into halves
- 12 green beans
- 2 green onions, chopped (optional)
- 2 tablespoons calamansi (Filipino lime) or lime juice (optional)

*Instructions*

1. *Heat oil in a large pot*: Over medium heat, heat the oil in a large pot or Dutch oven.
2. *SautΓ© onion, garlic, and ginger*: Add the chopped onion, minced garlic, and grated ginger. Cook until the onion is translucent.
3. *Add beef and cook*: Add the beef pieces and cook until browned on all sides.
4. *Add broth, water, and seasonings*: Pour in the beef broth, water, fish sauce, salt, and pepper. Bring to a boil.
